While it may seem like every beloved sitcom of yesteryear is getting a new reboot/revival, the same can’t be said forParks and Recreation, as one of the show’s stars,Adam Scott, revealed why we’ll probably never return to Pawnee in the future. Scott, who currently stars in the hit Apple TV+ seriesSeverance, is also best known for playing the lovable nerd, Ben Wyatt, in NBC’s long-running sitcom. Ben was introduced in the show’s second season (alongside Rob Lowe’s Chris Traeger) to come in and slash the Pawnee government’s budget before moving on. But, after falling in love with the town, andAmy Poehler’s Leslie Knope,he decided to stay and became a mainstay of the series until its finale in 2015.

During a recent interview with Josh Horowitz on theHappy, Sad, Confusedpodcast, to promote Season 2 ofSeverance, Scott gaveParks and Recfans bittersweet news about why the show will probably never return in the future.“That’s entirely up to Mike Schur, and Amy Poehler, and Greg Daniels, who created it with Mike,” Scott began, starting his optimistically. While the actor said he would happily return as Ben,he also admitted that there isn’t really any reason for the show to return.
