Agatha All Alonghas finally concluded its nine-episode run. Premiering with two episodes on September 18th,Agatha All Alongbecame the first MCU series to debut a two-episode finale, which aired on August 09, 2025. It was a long trip down the Witches' Road that featured numerous deaths and fascinating new revelations about various characters. Throughout the series' run, both Wiccan and Death were established in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as were more details about Agatha Harkness’s backstory and witchcraft in the MCU.
Agatha All Along
InAgatha All Along’s two-part finale, titled “Follow Me My Friend / To Glory at the End” and “Maiden Mother Crone,” the series did a good job wrapping up its central story while setting the stage for plenty of future MCU stories. Despite not having a mid-credit tease or after-credit scene,Agatha All Alonghad plenty of fun Easter eggs and references to the comics, the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and other film and television series. Here are the eight most notable Easter eggs and references in the two-part finale ofAgatha All Along.
Warning: Huge spoilers ahead forAgatha All Along, especially the final two episodes.

8Billy’s Posters Are Six Degrees of Marvel
Agatha All Along’s final two episodes highlight how Billy Maximoff made The Witches' Road in his mind using images from throughout his room, including a poster of Lorna Wu andThe Wizard of Ozdolls explaining Agatha Harkness taking on the Wicked Witch of the Road’s appearance similar to being like the Yellow Brick Road.
Some posters in Billy’s room have some subtle Marvel connections. Notably, Billy Maximoff has a poster forBuffy the Vampire’s musical episode “Once More with Feeling.” That series was created by Joss Whedon, who directedThe AvengersandAvengers: Age of Ultron. “Once More with Feeling” also weaves the nature of musical numbers into the very nature of the story, similar to howAgatha All Alongmakes “The Ballad of the Witches' Road” a vital plot point.

The other poster in Billy’s room is for the rock band Evanescence and their debut album,Fallen. Released on August 06, 2025,Fallenis best known for including the hit song “Bring Me To Life.” While “Bring Me To Life” is the first single released for the album released on August 13, 2025, most people first heard it as part of theDaredevilsoundtrack. Seeing as howJennifer Garner just reprised her role as Elektra inDeadpool & Wolverine, this was a nicely timed reference.
7Movie References
Agatha All Along’s penultimate episode, “Follow Me My Friend / To Glory at the End,” features two big movie references. When Agatha is helping Billy find a new body for his twin brother Tommy’s soul to occupy, he finds a young boy who is being bullied by kids and is drowning. Billy notes that this kid has nobody to love him. While this sets the stage for Tommy Maximoff/Speed to appear in the MCU, it seemingly is also a reference toFriday the 13thand how Jason Voorhees was a young boy who was bullied by his peers and died by drowning.
A Comprehensive List of Easter Eggs in Agatha All Along’s First 2 Episodes
Agatha All Along’s first two episodes featured plenty of references to the MCU, Marvel comics, and witches in pop culture and the real world.
Then, in the episode’s final scene, Billy Maximoff realizes he seemingly made the Witches' Road from his imagination based on items in his room. This shocking reveal, with the cuts to the items and their place within earlier parts of the story, is a direct homage to the iconic ending ofThe Usual Suspects.

The Usual Suspectswas directed by Bryan Singer, who famously directed fourX-Menfilms, includingX-Men: Days of Future Past, which featured Evan Peters as Quicksilver, and Evan Peters reprised his role as Ralph Bohner fromWandaVisioninAgatha All Along. Also worth noting is one of the groups of witches Agatha Harkness seemingly steals magic from in “Maiden Mother Crone,” a group of Goth witches that are likely a reference to the 1996 filmThe Craft.
6WandaVision References
WithAgatha All Alongbeing a continuation ofWandaVision, there were, of course, going to be references. Just like in the first episode ofAgatha All Along, many of the Westview residents fromWandaVisionappear in the final battle of episode 8, including David Payton as John Collins / “Herb Feltman,” David Lengel as Harold Proctor / “Phil Jones,” and Asif Ali as Abilash Tandon / “Norm Gentilucci. They comment on how Death making the sky glow green is similar to how Wanda’s hex made the sky red.
When Agatha and Billy are undergoing their final trial, she asks him to remember the last thing he can recall with his brother. He begins to recall the sound of Vision and Wanda tucking their boys into bed in the final episode ofWandaVison. After Billy Maximoff walks away from a final confrontation with the series villain Death, the scene mirrors when Wanda Maximoff walked away in Westview following her battle with Agatha Harkness.

5Death, How the Tables Have Turned
The reveal that Aubrey Plaza’s Rio Vadal was, in fact, the MCU version of Deathwas significant, one that took fans by surprise given that Death is commonly associated with Thanos in Marvel Comics. Thanos has a one-sided relationship with Death, pining after her, but she never shows him any attention. His quest to use the Infinity Gauntlet in the comics to wipe out half of all life in the universe in the comics was done to impress Death. The MCU drastically changed Thanos' motivation, and with him now dead in the MCU, Death’s role has many possibilities.
In many ways, the MCU flips the dynamic with Death. Here, Death is not the object of someone’s affection, but instead the one chasing approval as she so desperately wants to be with Agatha. Yet Agatha rejects her former lover at every turn and does not want to be reunited with her. This not only flips the Death/Thanos dynamic from the comics, where Death is now in the Thanos role, infatuated with someone who does not love her back.

The dynamic is also similar to Death and Deadpool in the comics. Due to Deadpool not being able to die, Death is fascinated by what she cannot have. Agatha Harkness has spent years escaping Death’s grasp, and Death will stop at nothing to claim her.
4Marvel Finally Delivers on Same-Sex Representation
BeforeAgatha All Alongdebuted, there was a lot of publicity about how the series was the most openly gay MCU series. The news sadly came about the same week it was reported thatDisney seemingly forced Pixar to downplay any trace of same-sex attraction inInside Out 2following a belief thatLightyearflopped at the box office for including a same-sex kiss.
In the first four episodes ofAgatha All Along, there certainly were a lot of hints at Rio and Agatha’s relationship, with plenty of flirtation and double entendres. Yet it also did seem that the series was avoiding anything too explicit.
Thankfully,Agatha All Alongdid live up to thehype as “the Gayest Marvel series.“Episode 6, “Familiar by My Side,” features Billy and his boyfriend Eddie not only sharing multiple kisses but saying “I love you.” Finally, in “Follow Me My Friend / To Glory at the End,” Agatha and Rio finally share a passionate same-sex kiss.
While Marvel did feature a brief same-sex kiss inEternals, theAgatha All Alongmoment felt like a major progressive step forward for Marvel Studios and Disney. In addition, Billy Maximoff’s room features a transgender flag with the phrase “Trans Lives Matters.” Marvel Studios has yet to introduce a trans superhero, but this is at least a hint at a step forward.
3Wiccan’s Suit
In “Follow Me My Friend / To Glory at the End,” Billy Maximoff finally shows up to save Agatha from her fight with Death. When he arrives, he is wearing the classic Wiccan costume from the comics. The MCU has been teasing Wiccan’s look sinceWandaVisionwhen young Billy Maximoff (Julian Hillard) dressed up for Halloween in a homemade version of his Wiccan costume.
Agatha All Alonghas featured many hints at Wiccan’s future costume. In “Darkest Hour / Wake Thy Power,” his 1980s outfit during the witch trial is a pared-down version of his costume with a headband in place of a crown and a similar color scheme for the shirt. The tarot card The Magician in “Death’s Hand in Mine” that is meant to represent Billy is drawn to also evoke Wiccan’s comic book costume.
This Isn’t the First Time the Salem Seven Pop up in a Marvel Show
While Avengers: United They Stand wasn’t the best Marvel project, it did feature Agatha Harkness, Nicholas Scratch, and the Salem Seven.
After all these teases,Wiccan finally gets to wear his comic book costume. The MCU version of the suit combines his first outfit in The Young Avengers series with the iconic headpiece from the character’s more recent look, which features a hooded cloak. Wiccan is wearing the same crown that he first was glimpsed wearing in “Darkest Hour / Wake Thy Power.” The crown itself is modeled more after the Scarlet Witch’s than Wiccan’s original comic book helmet, originally modeled after Thor.
2What’s In Nicolas Scratch’s Name?
After nine teasing episodes, the final episode ofAgatha All Along,“Maiden Mother Crone,” finally reveals Agatha’s backstory and what happened to her son Nicolas Scratch. WhileAgatha All Alongspends most of its season trying to convince the audience that Agatha Harkness truly did something evil, like give up her son for more power, the true revelation of the series is far more tragic.
Agatha Harkness made her son “from scratch,” hence his name, Nicolas Scratch. This makes Agatha a mirror image of Wanda Maximoff, as both women used magic to make their children. Yet Agatha’s died young, while Wanda’s children were able to reincarnate their souls. This is partially why Agatha takes such a liking to Billy Maximoff; he reminds her of the son she lost.
Created by writer Len Wein and artist George Pérez, Nicholas Scratch first appeared inFantastic Four#185 in August 1977 and is traditionally a villain, one who comes into conflict with his mother and The Fantastic Four. The MCU version is drastically different, and being an innocent young boy who died at a young age is both tragic for him and Agatha’s backstory.
While Agatha Harkness did have plenty of sins in her past, she was not a monster who gave up her child for more power. If anything, she tried to amass more power to save him, but it failed. It certainly recontextualizes everything audiences know about Agatha in both her own series andWandaVision.
1Agatha Becomes a Ghost and Gets Her Signature Look
Agatha Harkness dies at the end ofAgatha All Along, but in typical Agatha fashion, this is all part of her plan. She made a deal with Death that allowed her to cheat it while coming back as a ghost. This certainly is an insult, as Death previously mentioned she hated ghosts.
Fans of Marvel Comics will know that Agatha Harkness famously appeared as a ghost in theScarlet Witchcomic series by James Robinson, which introduced the Witches' Road and heavily inspiredAgatha All Along. In the comics, Agatha’s ghost form serves as a mentor/ally to the Scarlet Witch, but the MCU seemingly has made Agatha Harkness the ghost companion of the Scarlet Witch’s son, Billy Maximoff.
Agatha’s ghostly transformation also comes with a new look. When she appears, she has silver/grey hair, which is closer to the original look that the character had in the comics, where she was an elderly woman.
Kathryn Hahn was a drastic change from the Agatha Harkness of the comics, but her depiction of the character became such a breakout hit. This resulted in Marvel Comics redesigning the character to fit closer to her MCU counterpart. Ironically, while the current comic book version of Agatha Harkness is closer to Kathryn Hahn, the MCU version is now moving more toward the direction of her original comic book look.
When it was first announced in 2019 that Kathryn Hahn would join theWandaVisioncast as “Agnes,” everyone assumed she would be Agatha Harkness. Yet it is likely safe to saynobody could have predicted how popular her version of the character would beor that she would get an entire Disney+ series dedicated to her that ends with Agatha’s classic comic look.
