All Americanhas given fans six seasons of pristine coming-of-age drama, which established itself among the best. Basing itself (loosely) off NFL player Spencer Paysinger’s own struggles for coming up through South Central LA to attend Beverly Hills High on a football scholarship, The CW originaltackled modern social issues like racial inequality, mental health, and LGBTQ+ representation, weaved compelling character struggles and relationships throughout, and acted as a consistent inspiration of finding your dreams against any challenges. All Americanis the perfect teen drama.

This has led to the fandom feeling a bit bummed that theseries is set to conclude with its seventh and final season, set for an undetermined 2025 release date. However, the more shocking news came recently when it was announced that the cast was going tosee a big shake-up, with many of the key cast not returning for Season 7, including Samantha Logan (Olivia), Cody Christian (Asher), Karimah Westbrook (Grace James), Monét Mazur (Laura Baker), and Chelsea Tavares (Patience). With so many of the key cast leaving, it is time to say a bitter farewell toAll American. Even if they wanted to continue past Season 7, the formula to success is now broken.

It Is Bitter Sweet That All American Will Enter Its Final Season, But It Is the Right Move

Everything is up in the air for the final season ofAll American. New characters point to a shift to focus on Beverly and South Crenshaw High Schools and could push many of the main plots to the side andshift the focus back to high school football. Much of the main cast is leaving, but it has been confirmed thatDaniel Ezra (Spencer) will return after his exit from Season 6 in a guest appearanceand that some fan favorites may also have cameos; the final season may still be able to tie everything together through these guest appearances to keep things feeling cohesive.

20 Underrated Football Movies Every Sports Fan Needs to See at Least Once

These football films run the gamut of style and subgenre, and they deserve far more love today as high-quality sports films.

The major concern still remains that, with most of the cast gone and a new focus, the show will be a shadow of its former self. The fact that the team is looking to shift focus and create new stories to span only a single season is questionable if audiences will get the same quality spread over the past six seasons. Regardless, there areplenty of examples of shows trying to push past major cast changes and failing to maintain audience interestwithThat ’70s Show,Scrubs(infamous for its awful final season), andThe X-Files, to name a few.
