One of the best-reviewed crime thrillers of the year,Americana, lands in theaters later this week. Directed byTony Tost, the upcoming neo-western features a bevy of stars, includingPaul Walter Hauser, who just made his MCU debut inThe Fantastic Four: First Steps. In a new clip fromAmericana, his character is on a desperate quest for love that ends with another failed proposal.

MovieWeb has been provided an exclusive clip fromAmericana(below), which features Paul Walter Hauseras “Lefty” Ledbetter, a well-meaning military veteran in search of love. His character is on his third date with a woman, who is shocked to learn that he already wants to get married, as he is in love with her. Although it’s clear that Ledbetter is a nice guy with a good heart, he is quick to make rash decisions that, in this case, end a relationship before it can really even begin. The vibes are perfectly awkward in theAmericanascene, serving as a great showcase of Ledbetter’s unconventional nature.

Fresh off hishilarious role inThe Naked Gun, Hauser encompasses a totally different character inAmericanathat further showcases his range as a performer. The film, which follows a group of characters that come into conflict over a rare Native American artifact, will surely throw Hauser into a much more intense environment. However, the exclusiveAmericanclip shows just how much audiences will get to see a charming, albeit awkward, side of Ledbetter that Hauser is able to succinctly pull off. In addition to Hauser, the cast ofAmericanaincludes Sydney Sweeney, Halsey, Simon Rex, Eric Dane, and Zahn McClarnon. Check out the official plot synopsis:

“Americanais a modern Western that manages to satisfy the blood-and-guns expectations of genre fans, while also turning an accusatory eye towards how Native Americans are viewed in contemporary (meaning white) society. First-time feature director Tony Tost, who served as showrunner for Season 2 of Peacock’sPoker Face, makes this larger point in a busy story filled with tasty characters and cross-connected plot lines, while his serio-comic script keeps the bullets — and the surprises — flying.”

The lives of local outsiders and outcasts violently intertwine when a rare Lakota Ghost shirt falls onto the black market in a small South Dakota town.
