With just 37 days left untilStar Wars: The Force Awakenshits theaters on December 18, directorJ.J. Abramshas still managed to keep most of the film’s secrets intact. Granted, there have been an onslaught of rumors that have surfaced between now and when Disney purchasedLucasFilmfor over $4 billion back in October 2012. One of the many secretive characters who has yet to be revealed isAndy Serkis' Supreme Leader Snoke, who we haven’t seen in any of the trailers thus far, even though the actor did provide narration for the first teaser trailer released last November. Today,Indie Revolverhas revealed an early piece of concept art that gives us our first look at Snoke, whose name may offer a hint about his appearance.

The image reveals that Snoke appears to be some sort of an unknown creature that resembles a standing snake, who is seen clad in a green and yellow robe. The site points out that this is likely one of the earlier designs for the character, and that there are “wildly different designs” that were commissioned for Snoke, so it isn’t certain if this is the version fans will see whenStar Wars: The Force Awakenshits theaters on December 18. Even if the final version of Snoke does end up drastically different than this artwork, it certainly is intriguing.

Star Wars

Supreme Leader Snoke was first revealed asAndy Serkis' character back in May, with celebrated photographerAnnie Leibovitzcommissioned to photograph the actor in his motion-capture suit. We still don’t have any confirmed character details about Snoke thus far, but there was a rumor that surfaced last year that claimedAndy Serkisis actually playing two characters, one who leads, “a group of unbelievably athletic and acrobatic motion capture characters,” and another role that is said to be pivotal, which intertwines withDaisy Ridley’sRey. As far as we know thus far, that rumor isn’t true, but we’ll just have to wait until the credits roll on December 18 to find out for sure.

We reported earlier today that fans will be treated to new footage just two days from now, during ABC’s “TGIT” Thursday night lineup.Shonda Rhimesand cast members from her three hit ABC showsScandal,Grey’s AnatomyandHow to Get Away with Murderwill present new footage fromStar Wars: The Force Awakensat some point during that three-hour block of programming. It’s possible that the network will release tiny snippets of one larger video, throughout all three shows, before the full clip or TV spot debuts online, but we don’t know for sure.

Force Awakens

While it’s possible that we may get our first look at Snoke, or other mysterious characters like Luke Skywalker, it seems more likely that we won’t get to see them untilStar Wars: The Force Awakensarrives in theaters December 18. While we wait for Thursday night’s footage to arrive, take a look at this newconcept artthat may or may not provide an accurate depiction ofAndy Serkis' Supreme Leader Snoke. Do you think this is the version of Snoke we’ll get to see on the big screen?
