Following a sneak peek at theAnimaniacsrevival series from New York Comic-Con, Hulu has now released the full official trailer. It has been 22 years since Yakko, Wakko, and Dot have graced the small screen, and the Warner siblings are just as vibrant as ever as seen in the new trailer. The video also gives us our first look at the return of Pinky and the Brain, who will also be returning for the revival to great fanfare. It’s enough to make anyAnimaniacsfan excited, and you can check out the trailer below.
Longtimefans of the classic animated seriesshould also love that the art style hasn’t been significantly changed. While we’re now in a widescreen format with higher-quality animation, the Warner siblings look just as they always have. Of course, they all sound the same as well, as the original voice actors have also returned to reprise their classic roles. Their unique sense of humor is also very much the same, blending meta-humor and amusing sight gags to really give the revival the classicAnimaniacsfeel.
Because times have changed, that has also allowed for the revival to go in new directions with its storylines. Our sneak peek atPinky and the Brainhas the former using a smartphone, literally getting catfished as he tries online dating. The Brain discovers his own online disappointments when he excitedly gains a single follower on social media, only to find out that it’s Pinky. Meanwhile, Yakko is also introduced to an electronic “tablet” with access to the internet, only to end up swallowing it after mistaking it for a pill. Truly, these guys are just as we remember them, but now they’re in a new era.
PerHulu, the revival will see the Warner brothers (and sister) “have a great time wreaking havoc and mayhem in the lives of everyone they meet. After returning to their beloved home, the Warner Bros. water tower, the siblings waste no time in causing chaos and comic confusion as they run loose through the studio, turning the world into their personal playground. JoiningYakko, Wakko and Dot, fan-favorite characters Pinky and the Brain also return to continue their quest for world domination.”
Originally,Animaniacsran for five seasons between 1993 and 1998. Created by Tom Ruegger and produced by Steven Spielberg, the cartoon was presented as a variety sketch series, utilizing different characters for multiple segments in every episode. On Hulu, the revival series will be following a similar format. Spielberg has also returned for the revival to executive produce. In the NYCC sneak peek video, a scene fromJurassic Parkis spoofed with an animated Spielberg unveiling the return ofAnimaniacs.
Animaniacswill begin streaming all 13 episodes of its revival season on Nov. 20. Much more lunacy from the Warners is also on the way, as Hulu has already renewed the series for a second season. Those new episodes are scheduled to arrive sometime in 2021. TheAnimaniacsrevival trailer comes to us fromHulu on YouTube.
