She’s back! Principal photography has begun on New Line Cinema’sAnnabelle 2, withDavid F. Sandberg(upcomingLights Out) helming the follow up to 2014’s hugely successfulAnnabelle, which scared up nearly $257 million at the worldwide box office during its run in theaters. The new film is once again being produced byPeter SafranandJames Wan, who also partnered so effectively onThe Conjuringmovies.
InNew Line Cinema’sAnnabelle 2, several years after the tragic death of their little girl, a dollmaker and his wife welcome a nun and several girls from a shuttered orphanage into their home, soon becoming the target of the dollmaker’s possessed creation, Annabelle.Sandbergdirects from a screenplay byGary Dauberman, who also wroteAnnabelle. Filming is taking place in Los Angeles.

It isn’t known how long principal photography will take on this sequel. The original movie was produced on just a $6.5 million budget, but it isn’t known how much the sequel will cost to produce.

Annabelle 2has been given a May 19, 2017release date, putting it up against Paramount’sBaywatchand Open Road Films’The Nut Job 2.
