Warner Bros. are doing everything that they can to move away from the relative disaster that wasBatman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Even though the movie was met with very poor reactions from fans and critics,Zack Snyderwas already neck deep in pre-production onJustice League, so he is currently directing that movie as well in London. Thanks to some recent set visits, we learned a lot about the upcoming superhero team up, and theDC Extended Universegoods seem to keep on coming.

Some brand new photos from theJustice Leagueset have surfaced onTwitter, finally giving us a look atJason Momoa’s Aquaman in his own environment. Kind of. A series of photos featuringMomoaas the Atlantean God show him in his full costume and makeup, hanging out in a pool and surrounded by a whole bunch of green screens. Given the nature of Aquaman, it was already pretty much a sure thing that many of his scenes will be effects heavy, but these photos paint a good picture of just how true that really is.

Outside of all the green screen, we get to seeMomoain what looks to be a somehow faithful yet very modernAquamancostume. He is sporting some pretty cool, yet sparse armor, a bunch of scaley, tribal tattoos and of course, his trident. In one of the photos it looks like Aquaman is about to stab something with it, asSnyderand a whole team of divers who are in the pool withMomoalook on. One of the more fun pictures though is one that was taken ofMomoa’s face, hanging on the edge of the pool between takes. He is winking to the camera as if to say “Yes, this is cool and I know that you know it is cool. Aquaman is no longer lame. You’re welcome.”

Along with the handful of Aquaman photos that surfaced, a piece ofJustice Leagueconcept art also came to light and features the aforementionedAtlanteanas well as Batman, Superman (who is super dead right now), Wonder Woman, The Flash and Cyborg. A massive pile of information came out last week after the set visits toJustice Leaguetook place, and it has led to a renewed optimism on the part of fans, as it looks like Warner Bros. andSnyderheard the outcry and are doing their best to course correct. Here is the official synopsis that was released forJustice League.

“Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team ofmetahumansto stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes-Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash-it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.”

Aquaman has been the subject of a lot of ridicule for years, because the more classic version of the character was a bit of a boy scout, looked a little ridiculous and had, at least on the surface, a lame set of powers. However, DC has revamped the character in recent years andMomoaplaying him should be enough to convince anyone that this isn’t going to be your old man’s Aquaman. The character is set to appear inJustice League, followed by his solo film in 2018, which is being directed byJames Wan.Justice Leagueis set for a July 30, 2025 release.
