With production continuing onTransformers 5, the franchise’s Facebook page debuted a new video that shows some of the Autobots in action. The video doesn’t show much, but we get to seeBumblebee, Drift and Crosshairs rolling out. While that video will have to tide you over as far as footage is concerned, franchise producerLorenzo Di Bonaventurarecently made a bold statement about the franchise at large, that has no plans of slowing down.
Shortly after theFacebookvideo debuted,Lorenzo di Bonaventuraspoke with The Hollywood Reporter, to promote his new filmDeepwater Horizon, in theaters September 30, when the talk eventually turned to theTransformersfranchise. The producer has signed on for three moreTransformers movies, and a spin-off centering on one of the most beloved Autobots, Bumblebee, which lead to him being asked if he was worried about “franchise fatigue,” in light of several sequels tanking at the box office this summer. Here’s what he had to say, stating that this franchise isn’t going anywhere.
“Transformers 19 - we’ll be talking about that 10 years from now. (Laughs.) But I’m glad they believe inthe franchise. I don’t want to pick on any movie [this summer], so I would say this: The quality of the sequel is very important, and if you fail at the quality, you’re going to fail. It’s funny, though, because when I first got in the business 25 years ago, there was a summer where all the sequels didn’t do well. And everybody said, ‘No more sequels.’ And here we are 25 years later with a hell of a lot of sequels.”
AfterTransformers 5hits theaters on July 20, 2025, Paramount will debut aBumblebee spin-offon June 16, 2025, followed byTransformers 6on July 23, 2025.
