Embattled comedianBill Cosbyisn’t over his legal woes just yet. While he was released from prison earlier than expected when his conviction for a 2004 sexual assault case was overturned, theGhost Dadstar’s attorneys are stepping back into a courtroom on Wednesday to represent him for a civil trial related to another alleged assault. The alleged victim in this case, Judy Huth, claims Cosby sexually assaulted her at a Playboy Mansion party in 1975. Lawyers for Huth, who’s now 64 years old and was 16 at the time, will offer photos and “other archival exhibits” to argue their case.

Cosby is not expected to testify as he has invoked his Fifth Amendment privilege against self-incrimination. His reps say that Cosby’s glaucoma has worsened, leaving him blind and making travel much more difficult for the 85-year-old. Per10TV, the lawsuit is one of the last legal hurdles Cosby faces after several previous lawsuits were settled by his insurer against his will.

Bill Cosby to Be Released from Prison After Supreme Court Rules to Drop Charges

Allegations of misconduct or assault by Cosby date back many years, but it was in 2018 when a jury found him guilty on three counts of aggravated indecent assault. He was sentenced to serve three to ten years, but Cosby’s sentence was cut short in 2021 when the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned his conviction. The court had decided that Cosby’s due process rights were violated and that he could not be tried again on the same charges.

“The collective weight of these considerations led D.A. Castor to conclude that, unless Cosby confessed, there was insufficient credible and admissible evidence upon which any charge against Mr. Cosby related to the Constand incident could be proven beyond a reasonable doubt,” the court’s decision stated

Bill Cosby Has Always Maintained That He’s Innocent

Bill Cosby served just under three years of his sentence, andupon his release, he professed his innocence and referred to himself as a political prisoner.

“I have never changed my stance nor my story,” he said. “I have always maintained my innocence. Thank you to all my fans, supporters and friends who stood by me through this ordeal. Special thanks to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court for upholding the rule of law.”

He later said, via Black Press USA, “You’re sitting in a room trying to explain something, and there is a knock on the door. You say, ‘who is it?’ [The response is], ‘It is the truth.’ So, people start jumping out of the window. The court’s decision was not a technicality. These people sound like they haven’t read what the judges have written. It’s not a technicality. These [detractors] don’t want to know anything. It’s like the woman who said she knows five women that I drugged and raped. Well, where are they?”

“There’s a big smile on my face,” Cosby also noted of his freedom from prison. “A big smile on my face because I was there. I know what happened, and I’m watching and hearing these fascists and Nazis, and I watched them really come out of the woodworks as termites. The infestation of when [former President] Donald Trump came through, and they just let it all hang out. That’s who they are.”
