Alex Winterhas revealed that a script for a possibleBill and Ted 4is now being written, with the intention of shopping the project around. In an interview with theSarah O’Connell Show, Winter revealed that they are now “tinkering” with the idea for a fourth adventure in theBill and Tedfranchise, with the actor hoping everyone (including co-star Keanu Reeves) will be happy with the result.
“We’re tinkering with a fourth movie idea that all of us like, and the guys are going to write, so we’ll see. It takes us time to get these things going, and we never want to do them unless they’re great.”
The firstBill and Tedouting,Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, was released way, way back in 1989, and introduces audiences toAlex Winteras Bill S. Preston, Esq. and Keanu Reeves as Ted “Theodore” Logan, a pair of delightfully dim-witted slackers and rock ‘n’ roll fans who must travel through time to assemble historical figures for their high school history presentation and thus become the heroes they are destined to be.
The sequel, 1991’sBill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, takes things in an even more bizarre direction, with a pair of Bill and Ted robots being sent into the past to kill Bill and Ted and thus erase the utopian future their music has created. The duo then goes to hell, face death in a spoof ofThe Seventh Seal, and go to heaven where they meet an alien, before competing for the future of the world in a ‘battle of the bands’ competition.

A thirdBill and Tedmovie was in development for some time, finally being unleashed in 2020. Starring Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves once again,Bill & Ted Face the Musicfinds the pair now middle-aged and tasked with at last writing a song to unite humanity before space-time is destroyed.
Bill and Ted Face the Musicwas received well by critics, with many glad to see the pair return to screens. Thus, this news of a possible fourth movie is sure to have many shouting “Excellent!” but, as Winter explains, it will only happen if everyone involved is on board.
“They feel the same way, it has to be right. We love [the Bill & Ted movies] because they’re oddball, and they’re not typical mainstream films. They’ve never been cash-grab movies; nobody has gotten rich off the Bill and Ted series. We really do make them sincerely from a place of love and interest. There’s a really good idea that the writers came up with for a fourth that’s kind of obvious. I don’t want to give it away – I can’t give it away because I would be drawn and quartered – but it is a really good idea, an obvious idea. It will get written, and we’ll see if we can actually get it made.”
