The plan is to get Dwayne Johnson suited back up for a sequel toBlack Adamin the very near future. Featuring Johnson making his debut in the DCEU,Black Adamhas spent several years in development, but it’s finally coming to movie theaters this week. It’s too early to tell just yet how well exactly the film will perform at the box office, though it was met with mixed reviews from its early reviews by critics.

Be that as it may, the film’s producers are already looking forward toBlack Adam 2. At this time, a sequel hasn’t been officially announced by Warner Bros., though Johnson has been open about his desire to play the character in several films. In an interview withComicBook.com, producerBeau Flynnteased that the wait for the sequel wouldn’t be long at all, having this to say about when The Rock will be back as Black Adam.

“Don’t worry. This one will be fast… We will open up the magic wagon, we’ll have the script ready, pretty fast.”

Fellow producerHiram Garciaalso made a promise that the wait would be short forBlack Adam 2, even without an official announcement made at this point.

“It’s not going to take that long. I can promise you that. We always hope the first domino’s the easy one. We’ll get cooking on it fast, that’s for sure.”

Will Black Adam Get a Sequel?

There are many directions that a sequel toBlack Adamwill go. Dwayne Johnson has long been teasing an eventual battle between his Black Adam and Henry Cavill’s Superman, with Aldis Hodge recently suggesting thata trilogy of films should lead up to that moment. Johnson has also teased that his anti-hero will have a crossover with Zachary Levi’sShazam!, showing how ambitious theBlack Adamteam feels about the future.

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra,Black Adamalso brings in many new characters to serve as the JSA, so that opens the door for potential spinoffs as well. Along with The Rock in the lead, the film stars Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Sarah Shahi, Marwan Kenzari, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate. Mo Amer and Bodhi Sabongui also star.

In ancient Kahndaq, Teth Adam was bestowed the almighty powers of the gods. After using these powers for vengeance, he was imprisoned, becoming Black Adam. Nearly 5,000 years have passed and Black Adam has gone from man, to myth, to legend. Now released, his unique form of justice, born out of rage, is challenged by modern day heroes who form the Justice Society: Hawkman, Dr. Fate, Atom Smasher and Cyclone.
