Whether fans consider him a DCEU holdover or not, the Blue Beetle will return. James Gunn has gone on record calling actor Xolo Maridueña’s big-screen portrayal of the superhero the first official character from the DCU. But whatever the case may be, Gunn andBlue Beetledirector Ángel Manuel Soto have already discussed the scarab-powered Jaime Reyes. Soto talked about Jaime’s future in an exclusive interview withScreen Rant:
“Yeah, we have had conversations about it and that’s where he mentioned to me Booster Gold [Max] show that is going to come out. Now, where does it fit, how is it gonna play out? We haven’t talked about that. But we both have talked about our interest in continuing Jaime’s story, and finding a way for that story to be a part of this new universe.”

Buddies Blue Beetle and Booster Gold have a rich tradition of working together in DC Comics. However, it’s worth pointing out that it’s Ted Kord’s version of the superhero that is more closely tied to Booster. But it will be interesting to see how the trio interacts when all three characters take their place in Peter Safran and Gunn’s DCU.

Blue Beetle and Booster Gold Will Team Up
During his interview,Blue Beetledirector Ángel Manuel Soto confirmed thatCobra Kai’sXolo Maridueña’s will still portray Jaime Reyes inJames Gunnand Peter Safran’s DCU. And with Gunn’s announcement of theBooster Goldseries back in January 2023, along with that Ted Kord teaser in the credits ofBlue Beetle, the stage is set for Booster, Kord and Jaime to team up in the new DC Comics sphere of movies, TV and animation. Soto said in the same sit-down with Screen Rant:
For me, it’s one of those things I’m like definitely Booster Gold and Ted Kord. I want them to be a part of Jaime’s future […] a lot of the Jaime relationship with both of them are iconic. So, I hope it goes that way.

Gunn announced that theBooster Goldseries will be a live-action event. The Max show will feature the futuristic character who has traveled through time to the present day to pass himself off as a superhero. So, the pieces are slowly falling into place for Jaime, Ted and Booster to, at the very least, cross paths. For the time being, though, all the emphasis and casting news for the DCU seems to be centered around 2025’sSuperman: Legacy. But don’t forget thatthe animatedCreature Commandosand the live-actionWallerare both slated to drop before David Corenswet dons the Man of Steel’s cape.
