Peacock has announced LGBTQIA+ horror filmThey/Themwill be available for streaming this summer, along with releasing some first-look images. The slasher film, cleverly pronounced “they-slash-them”, was initially titledWhistler Camp. The film is set in a gay conversion camp whereKevin Bacon’s character, Owen Whistler, serves as camp director. Writer John Logan makes his directorial debut on the new original horror film.

Logan insists that underneath the scares and gore, lies a story of love and acceptance. In a statement with Peacock, Logan said:

They Them campers

“They/Themhas been germinating within me my whole life. I’ve loved horror movies as long as I can remember, I think because monsters represent ‘the other’ and as gay kid I felt a powerful sense of kinship with those characters who were different, outlawed, or forbidden. I wanted to make a movie that celebrates queerness, with characters that I never saw when I was growing up. When people walk away from the movie, I hope they’re going to remember the incredible love that these kids have for each other and how that love needs to be protected and celebrated.”

The three-time Oscar-nominated writer, whose credits includeSkyfall, Gladiator, andThe Aviator, will also serve as executive producer. Bacon, Scott Turner Schofield (The Craft: Legacy), Howie Young (Mission: Impossible III), and Jon Romano (Firestarter (2022)) also serve as executive producers.
