Following thefirst trailerthat arrived last week, RLJ Entertainment has released five character posters forBone Tomahawk, arriving in theaters October 23. These one-sheets featureKurt Russellas Sheriff Franklin Hunt,Patrick Wilsonas Arthur O’Dwyer,Richard Jenkinsas Chicory,Matthew Foxas John Brooder andLili Simmonsas Samantha O’Dwyer. These characters are all part of a small town that bands together in the face of tragedy.
When a group of cannibal savages kidnap settlers from the small town of Bright Hope, an unlikely team of gunslingers, led by Sheriff Franklin Hunt (Kurt Russell), sets out to bring them home. But their enemy is more ruthless than anyone could have imagined, putting their mission - and survival itself - in serious jeopardy. This is a grittyaction-packedthriller chronicling a terrifying rescue mission in the Old West. This film will actually be the first of two Westerns for Kurt Russell this year, withThe Hateful Eighthitting theaters onChristmas Day.

The stellar supporting cast ofBone Tomahawkis rounded out by Evan Jonigkeit,Kathryn Morris,David ArquetteandSean Young. The film recently had its world premiere at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas, where it was met with acclaim from fans and critics alike. While it’s still very early in awards season race,Bone Tomahawkcould shape up to be an early Oscar contender.

With Kurt Russell starring in this critically-acclaimed film, plusThe Hateful Eight, it’s possible he could help start a resurgence of Westerns, a genre steeped in cinematic history that has fallen by the wayside in recent years.
