From the World of John Wick: Ballerinadanced onto thebox officescene and completely mesmerized fans who came out to witness Eve Macarro (Ana de Armas) and the Baba Yaga’s (Keanu Reeves) big-screen confrontation. Unfortunately, despite the sublime reception from audiences, there simply wasn’t enough interest in the action flick to generate the moneyBallerinaneeded to land the top spot over the weekend. Instead, it wasLilo & Stitchthat ascended to No. 1 and for the third weekend in a row with an estimated $32.5 million.
Lilo & Stitchcontinued its dominance as the preeminent blockbuster of the 2025 summer movie season, and the film’s worldwide total has now reached a jaw-dropping $772.6 million in just three weekends of release. Meanwhile,Ballerinamight not have made enough money to land the No. 1 spot at the box office, but the de Armas-led adventure did secure the No. 2 position. Unfortunately, except for the originalJohn Wick,Ballerina’sdomestic debut of $25 million is the lowest opening-weekend total of the entire franchise. Here’s how all the Boogeyman’s (Reeves) big-screen appearances have fared financially in theaters:

10 Greatest Summer Blockbusters of All Time, Ranked
A summer blockbuster isn’t just a movie, it’s a cinematic event, with culture, hype, and epic filmmaking.
Critics’ mixed reviews also resulted in No. 2Ballerinalanding the lowest Tomatometer rating of the entireJohn Wickfranchise, despite de Armas' film being “Certified Fresh” at 76% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, as mentioned before,Ballerinaclearly danced into the hearts of fans, as reflected by the movie’s “A-” CinemaScore and its “Verified Hot” 94% on RT’s Popcornmeter. Plus, it’s worth noting thatBallerina’s94% is higher than any other entry in the famed action franchise. Yes, it’s even better than fan-favoriteJohn Wick: Chapter 4’s"Verified Hot" 93% Popcornmeter grade. Despite not securing the No. 1 spot over the weekend, though,Ballerinadid bring home $51 million worldwide against an estimated production budget of $90 million.

‘Mission: Impossible 8’ Sweeps the Legs Right Out From Under ‘Karate Kid: Legends’
Last weekend’s box office champion,Lilo & Stitch, managed to secure its well-deserved three-peat at No. 1 against high-profile titles which honestly should have put up more of a fight for the top spot. Unfortunately, though, neitherKarate Kid: LegendsnorBallerinagenerated enough interest to challenge Experiment 626’s success on the big screen. What’s even worse is the way the newKarate Kidfilm performed so poorly in its sophomore stanza, which allowedMission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning(a movie that’s been in theaters since May 23) to handily beat outLegendsfor the bronze medal over the weekend.
If one were to realistically envision Tom Cruise’s character, Ethan Hunt, fighting toe-to-toe with Ralph Macchio’s Daniel LaRusso, it’s not at all surprising whose film comes out victorious. However, Cruise and Jackie Chan going mano a mano would be worth the ticket price. Film fantasies aside,Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoningdid secure the No. 3 spot at the weekend box office with $15 million. Meanwhile, Sony Pictures’Karate Kid: Legendsdropped 57% since its debut last week en route to making only $8.7 million, which was only good enough to land the No. 4 slot in the rankings, andFinal Destination: Bloodlinesrounded out the Top 5 with $6.5 million.

No. 6The Phoenician Schemeincreased its theatrical release to 1,678 cinemas over its second weekend of release, which helped Wes Anderson’s latest big-screen venture land just outside the Top 5 with $6.3 million. IFC Films’ newcomer, No. 11Dangerous Animals($1.5 million), just missed out on cracking the Top 10, while the Stephen King adaptation,The Life of Chuck, made its debut in limited release (16 cinemas across eight markets). However, the Tom Hiddleston-led science fiction drama did boast the weekend’s best per-theater average at $13,502.
Next up, Universal Pictures and DreamWorks’How to Train Your Dragonjoinsthe 2025 box officeon Friday, June 13. The highly anticipated remake of the 2010 animated film is forecast to make somewhere between $80 million and $100 million over its opening weekend in the United States and Canada. In addition, the premiere of Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans, and Pedro Pascal’s romantic comedy,The Materialists, hits cinemas alongside Pierce Brosnan, Samuel L. Jackson, and Brandon Lessard’sTheUnholy Trinity.
