Brad Pittwas asked about comments he made for a recent GQ interview during Monday night’s Los Angeles premiere ofBullet Train. During theGQ August cover feature interview, Pitt, whose breakout role came as a charming thief in Ridley Scott’sThelma & Louise, said he considered himself on the “last leg of his career.” Pitt also questioned how he would design this upcoming part of his professional life.
However, the actor seemed to backtrack when questioned about his upcoming retirement byDeadline, stating that he had to work on his phrasing. He told the publication:
“I was just saying, ‘I’m past middle age and I want to be specific about how I spend those last things however they may be.'”
Pitt continued to say:
“I’ve never been a five-year plan kind of guy. I’m just, whatever feels right for the day. I still operate that way.”
Pitt stars as assassin Ladybug inBullet Train. The Academy Award winner will also appear in Damien Chazelle’sBabylonalongside Margot Robbie and Tobey Maguire. Pitt’s production company Plan B, will release three book adaptations this year:Women Talking, about a group of Mennonite women joining forces against rapists,Blonde, the fictional biography about Marilyn Monroe, andShe Said, about the two The New York Times journalists who exposed Harvey Weinstein’s history of abuse against women. In January, Pitt signed a deal with Apple for the creation of aFormula One film.
Bullet Train Cast and Plot
As Ladybug, Pitt portrays a trained killer who is on the road to retirement when he decides to take on one last job. This last mission, collecting a briefcase, takes him to a job on the world’s fastest train traveling from Tokyo to Morioka. The train just so happens to be occupied by four other assassins. Together, the five discover that their missions are interconnected. The film also stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Joey King, Brian Tyree Henry, Andrew Koji, Hiroyuki Sanada, Michael Shannon, Benito A Martínez Ocasio, Masi Oka, Logan Lerman, Karen Fukuhara, Sandra Bullock and Zazie Beetz.
Bullet Trainis based on Kotaro Isaka’s book of the same name. The film is directed by David Leitch, who also serves as a producer alongside Kelly McCormick and Antoine Fuqua. Brent O’Connor, Ryosuke Saegusa, Yuma Terada and Kat Samick executive produced the film. The script was written by Zak Olkewicz.
The film has opened to mixed reviews, but praise of the ensemble cast remains consistent.Bullet Trainis being released by Sony this Friday, August 5th.
