Marvel Studios dropped a ton of big news recently at San Diego Comic-Con, including a bunch ofBlack Panthernews, and the identity ofKurt RussellinGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Even with that, there is no question that the biggest announcement they made was finally confirming that Oscar winnerBrie Larsonis indeed playingCaptain Marvel. Even though the movie doesn’t come out for a couple of years, the actress has already taken to the role, as she recently revealed she is already studying up.

The actress took to herTwitteraccount to reveal that she is digging into the source material for her role asCaptain Marvel. The photoLarsontweeted out features her laying on her couch, halfway covered up with a blanket, reading aCaptain Marvelcomic book, while dressed up in aCaptain Marveloutfit. She captioned the photo with “Larson Industries R&D Dept.”

Many creatives who have boardedcomic book movies, be it in front of or behind the camera, have adopted the trend of posting comic books that they are reading to their social media accounts to show that they are studying up. There is no doubt thatLarsonseems to be loving thisCaptain Marvelbusiness so far, and instead of just posting herself reading the book, she is clearly having some fun with the whole thing. As for whatLarsonis reading to study up? The picture featuresCaptain Marvel, Vol. 1: Higher, Further, Faster, Morewhich was written byKelly Sue DeConnickwith art byDavid Lopez.

Before theCaptain Marvelmovie was officially announced, there was some debate about which version of the character we were going to see on screen.Larsonis going to be playingCarol Danvers, the more classic version of the character. However, there was quite a bit of demand to seeG. Willow Wilson’s more recent take on the character in herMs. Marvelcomic books series, which features a young Muslim girl named Kamala Khan taking up the mantle ofCaptain Marvel. During Marvel’sPhase 3announcement event,Kevin Feigemade it very clear that we are going to see Carol Danvers.

“Let me clarify. Captain Marvel has gone by many names in the comics, has had many people who’ve inhabited that costume and used that power base. I want to make it very clear: This hero’s name is Carol Danvers.”

Nicole Perlman(Guardians of the Galaxy) andMeg LeFauve(Inside Out) are writing the script forCaptain Marvel, but we don’t know much about the story yet. She was a U.S.Air Force securitychief who is transformed intoCaptain Marvel, after an explosion that involved Kree technology. AmongCaptain Marvel’s powers aresuperhuman strengthand the ability to fly after her DNA was infused with a Kree alien.
