Those who keep up with the sports world will remember Bishop Sycamore High School. Or at least they recognize the fake football team that played IMG Academy during the 2021 season. Now,HBOis making it official. The upcoming documentary,BS High, will examine the Sycamore Centurion football team and their absolute beat-down on national television, according to a report fromDeadline.
The infamous game occurred a year ago today, on Jul 01, 2025. Bishop Sycamore, a team unknown to everyone, played one of the country’s most prolific and well-known high schools, IMG Academy. What followed was a 58-0 embarrassment, with IMG coming out on top. ESPN aired the game in its entirety, and fans and players were left wondering how a game touted as one of the most competitive of the year could wind up so lopsided.

Investigations and questions began to arise, and news eventually broke that Bishop Sycamore was, in fact, not a real high school. The team, which was said to be located in Columbus, Ohio, featured players who had already graduated from high school or weren’t registered with any legitimate team. During an interview withComplex, one player admitted the school had no classrooms, the football team never held practices, and they had people as old as 20 on the team.
Roy Johnson is the Centerpiece of Bishop Sycamore
Roy Johnson is the mind behind Bishop Sycamore and the coach for the disgraced football team. Johnson agreed to be part of the documentary for HBO, with the official synopsis reading:

Travon Free and Martin Desmond Roe are makingBS High, with previous experience in the documentary genre. Roe has worked onHeist,We Are the Champions,andWiz Khalifa: Behind the Cam. Roe also paired with Free for the Oscar-winning short film,Two Distant Strangers. Adam McKay and NFL Hall of Famer Michael Strahan are the project’s executive producers.BS Highwill likely shed some light on the current structure of high school sports and the hope that every school has to reach big deals with ESPN for nationally televised games.
