Chris Pinesays he was “stunned” at discovering Warner Bros. had cannedWonder Woman 3, although he admits it would have been “ridiculous” for him to have been a part of it.As James Gunn reveals his Supermanand builds up hype around his new DCU characters, there are many fans still unable to believe that certain characters will not be appearing on-screen again. This includes Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman followingthe cancelation of Patty Jenkins’ third moviefeaturing the character.
Wonder Woman
Speaking toBusiness Insider, Pine shared his thoughts on the cancelation of the franchise, and appeared to be as shocked as anyone at Warner Bros. completely abandoning the Wonder Woman franchise to begin all over again. He said:
“I’m stunned that they said no to a billion-dollar franchise and decided to pivot elsewhere. I don’t know what the reasoning was behind that; it’s above my pay grade, but Wonder Woman is an incredible character; Patty is such a thoughtful director.”

When asked whether there were plans for him to be inWonder Woman 3before it was canned, theStar Trekactor said:
Me. No. Homie is dead. Steve is gonzo. It would be ridiculous to try to bring me back.

Chris Pine Did Not Originally Want To Be In Wonder Woman
Although Pine ended up being a part of bothWonder WomanandWonder Woman 1984, the actor admitted that he had originally rejected the offer to appear in the movie as the “boyfriend” of Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince. It was only after meeting with Jenkins that he was told the role was not exactly what he expected. He said:
“I had no interest in playing the boyfriend, and it sounded like second fiddle. Then, in talking to Patty, the way she described it was, ‘Forget the superhero of it all, this is a romance, this is ‘Casablanca,’ that’s the movie I want to make.’ I was like, oh, now that is very cool because when have you seen a superhero film that was a love story, ultimately? That had nothing to do with blowing shit up.”

Despite Pine’s character dying at the end ofWonder Woman, he was “wished” back to life by Prince in the ‘80s-set sequel. Although the actor notes that it would have been “ridiculous” for him to have been part of the third movie – which was reportedly to be set in modern day – it would probably not have been any more outrageous than his return inWonder Woman 1984.
Zack Snyder Dishes on Discarded Wonder Woman 1854 DCEU Project, Teases ‘Lovers’ & Ares
Zack Snyder reveals details of the scrapped WW1854 project, which would have found Diana searching for Ares around the globe.
Recently, original Wonder Woman star Lynda Carter shared hercandid thoughts on the chances ofWonder Woman 3ever being made. Simlar to Pine, she could not really understand why the existing franchise was being abandoned. She said:

“I don’t think they want to do it unless there’s enough pressure from fans. I just don’t think they have the mind to do it. And I don’t understand that, because it seems to me that Wonder Woman is different from other characters. She’s not just a superhero. Her whole thing is about peaceful solutions. She’s not aggressive to be aggressive. It’s a different story. It’s about inner strength, outer strength. I don’t know why they tabled it, because it’s a great franchise.”
While it seems thatGal Gadot will not be returning to the DCU as Wonder Woman, there is a project based on the character nestled in the middle of Gunn and Safran’s plans in the form of the TV seriesParadise Lost. Currently, there is little known about the project other than it being “a Themyscira-focused Wonder Woman prequel.”
