Even asThe Acolytecontinues to court controversy, there’s no denying the Force is strong with Lucasfilm’s Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer,Dave Filoni.One of the creative minds behind some of theStar Warsfranchise’s most beloved projects (The Clone Wars, RebelsandAhsoka),Filoni would gladly welcome the creator of that galaxy far, far away back into the fold in a meaningful way. But with all of his outside pursuits, fans shouldn’t expectGeorge Lucasto return. Filoni said during his appearance on theHappy Sad Confusedpodcast:
“We rent the building I work in from George, so he has all the keys anyway.He can come right in, he has the pass.I’ll tell you,whatever he would come up with would be different.He was always the most surprising in what he would do and howhe would push things."
Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope
Filoni, who is an avid fan of Jedi Master Plo Koon and the co-developer ofStar Wars: The Clone Warsalong with Lucas, said during the same sit-down: “I’m really, very, very respectful of his time. He has a museum to finish, which is gonna be a phenomenal experience and project for everyone to see.”
Dave Filoni Reveals George Lucas Is a ‘Most Humble Guy’
George Lucas set his beloved science fiction world in motion with the release ofStar Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope(1977) nearly 50 years ago.Lucas’Star Warsmovieshold a very special place not only in the hearts of fans, but in pop culture, too. Despite their success, though, Lucas sold Lucasfilm to Disney back in 2012 for just over $4 billion. Today, Lucas isn’t an integral part of the day-to-day operations. However, Dave Filoni is quick to call Lucas the “most humble guy,” and one who continues to give. Filoni said during the same podcast:
“It never ceases to amaze me how George just gives, always, in his whole life.Whether it’s the jobs we all get to have when he’s gone,telling stories in a galaxy he created,or whether it’sbuilding a museumso so many kids can experience art, narrative art —and be inspired by that art and maybe someday tell stories themselves.”
Filoni continued:
“And yet, even when I do, it feels very mythical to go before him and talk.He’s the most humble guy.It was the greatest asset onClone Wars,it was the greatest confidence, to know that he was there. To know that, no matter what we did, he was the backstop.And it had to be a little like maybe how Anakin felt with Obi-Wan sometimes, like, ‘Obi-wan’s got my back, I know he’s there.'”
