Last week, a new report suggested that Jack Kesy’s villain character had been cut out ofDeadpool 2. However, that rumor has now been officially debunked by co-writer Rhett Reese who simply calls the rumors “untrue.” The production of the highly anticipated sequel has been in the news a lot lately, mostly with negative press over reshoots, negative test screenings, and actors being cut. The same things happened to the production ofJustice League, and we all know how that ended up. But, the cast and crew ofDeadpool 2have been taking a note from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and staying tight-lipped about anything.
Now that the rumors surrounding the production ofDeadpool 2have started to get a little out of hand with so-called “inside sources,” Rhett Reese is setting the record straight. When asked on Twitter if theJack Kesycharacter had been cut out from the sequel, he denied the report. So, there we have it, Kesy’s villain will indeed be inDeadpool 2, but who exactly is he playing? There have been recent reports that he’s playing Black Tom Cassidy, a villainous mutant who uses plants for his power.
Another possibility about Jack Kesy’s role inDeadpool 2is the part of Juggernaut. There have been several reports aboutJuggernaut’s appearance in the sequel, plus there were images from the set that surfaced over the summer that saw the actor wearing a large motion capture helmet that looked an awful lot like Juggernaut. But, as previously mentioned, everybody from the cast and crew is remaining silent on the part, which has led to much speculation and even rumors that the character had been cut out of the movie.
Reports about the purpose of theDeadpool 2reshoots have also taken a bad turn with many associating the allegednegative test screeningsto be the reasoning behind the return to Vancouver. Brianna Hildebrand, who plays Negasonic Teenage Warhead recently debunked those rumors as well. She did imply that the reports about the addition of more of Josh Brolin’s Cable and Zazie Beetz’s Domino could have been the reason. She explains.
“No, it was nothing that had gone wrong. I think it’s acommon misconceptiontoo - that people think that reshoots are to fix things that people didn’t like. A lot of the time, reshoots are to add more of the things that people loved. (Filmmakers) watch their films again and are like better fix that. I don’t know how much I can say about that.”
Conflicting reports claim thatDeadpool 2istesting with audiences even better than the first movie, but in the end, it doesn’t really matter. The movie will be out soon, and everybody will be able to form their own opinion about it. If the trailers and promotional material are any indication, it looks like fans of the Merc with a Mouth are going to enjoy this sequel just as much, if not more, than the first installment.
