Deadpool 3is currently in active development at Marvel Studios. Ryan Reynolds has officially confirmed the news. There has been a lot of speculation as to what will happen to the Merc with a Mouth under the Disney umbrella, but it seems that everything is working out smoothly, according to the actor behind the mask. While we’re still unsure what theDeadpoolfranchise will look like under Disney, they’re more than likely aiming to keep the R-rated fun of the first two installments.
Ryan Reynoldsparticipated in an interview on Christmas Eve when he was asked about the status ofDeadpool 3. Fans have been wondering about Reynolds and Marvel Studios ever since theactor posted a picture of himself at Marvel headquartersearlier this year. The actor has mostly been silent on the subject, but he apparently felt like being in the giving mood for the holidays. Reynolds had this to say when asked aboutDeadpool 3.
“Yeah we’re working on it right now with the whole team… We’re over at Marvel [Studios] now, which is like the big leagues all of a sudden. It’s kinda crazy. So yeah, we’re working on it.”
One of the biggest questions aboutDeadpool 3coming out under the Marvel Studios banner is whether or not it will have the same tone as the first two installments.Disney boss Bob Igerhas confirmed several times that the studio plans on making R-rated material, but there are still a few questions about that too. The Disney+ streaming platform will not include R-rated material, which does not seem like a wise decision at all for the future of the new streaming service. though Disney does own Hulu, and all of their R-Rated backcatalogue seems to be going there, with the streamer launching movies likeBachelor PartyandPulp Fictionstarting this January.Deadpoolwill more than likely find a streaming home on Hulu as well.
But then there’s the question of whether or not the Merc with a Mouth will be incorporated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole. WhileInfinity WarandAvengers: Endgamepushed the envelope of the PG-13 rating, they are still very far from R-rated territory. Regardless, Marvel fans have waited a long time to see theDeadpoolfranchise thrown into the MCU mix and it’s closer to happening now than ever before. Hopefully Reynolds and Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige will have some more information for us in the near future.
Deadpool 3is a no-brainer for Marvel Studios, as long as it’s done right. The first two installments proved to be big winners at the box office and the third should be no different, especially after a bit of an extended break. With that being said, will Disney allow the Merc with a Mouth to be himself on the big screen? That is the major question and it’s something that Marvel fans are going to be paying very close attention to once shooting begins.
