Moore beat out fellow nominees Pamela Anderson (The Last Showgirl), Cynthia Erivo (Wicked) Karla Sofía Gascón (Emilia Pérez) and Mikey Madison (Anora) to earn her first SAG trophy ever after being nominated only once before as part of the ensemble cast for 2007’sBobby.
Per Variety,Moore gave an incredible and emotional acceptance speechafter winning the SAG award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for her workin Coralie Fargeat’sThe Substance, which became one of the breakout horror hits of 2024.“This is extraordinary and so deeply meaningful,“she said after picking up the statue to see how heavy it was. Fighting back tears, she continued:
“As I was thinking about this night, I realized I hadn’t thought back to when I got my membership to this incredible organization. It was in 1978. I was 15, almost 16. It changed my life because it gave me meaning, it gave me purpose, and it gave direction, because I was a kid on my own who had no blueprint for life. I knew nothing about acting, but I watched, and I listened, and I learned from all of you. You have all been my greatest teachers. I am so grateful that I have continued over these so many years to be able to try and sometime succeed and sometimes fail and to be able to keep going. I could not do that without the support of my incredible team.”

Moore’s SAG win comes after already winning the Best Actress trophy at the Golden Globes back in January, and at the Critics' Choice Awards earlier this month. She was nominated for a BAFTA as well, but lost out at the ceremony on Feb. 16 toAnorastar Mikey Madison. Moore also took the time in her acceptance speech to offer some advice to young actors breaking into the business after detailing how she herself learned to navigate Hollywood thanks to some incredible people.
“As a young actor, it was the casting directors and directors and producers who got me into the room to audition where I could feel you, and you could feel me, and your feedback meant everything, it’s what helped me. As so these young actors who are having to do it all, I just encourage you to don’t lose sight of the human connection. That is the work we do…to be connected to one another.”

Thus far, oddsmakers have Moore as the favorite to take home the Best Actress trophy at next month’s Academy Awards, but Madison is a close second. Her SAG win does not make her a shoo-in by any stretch of the imagination, as while past winners such as Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once) and Jessica Chastain (The Eyes of Tammy Faye) went on to capture Oscar gold, others such as Lily Gladstone (Killers of the Flower Moon) and Viola Davis (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom)did not get to hear their name called at the prestigious ceremony.
