Today we have a new report from Latino-Review, which claims thatMission: Impossible Rogue Nationwriter-directorChristopher McQuarriecame aboard at some point to provide ascript polish.

The filmmaker reportedly did a “two-week pass” on the script, but it isn’t known how much he changed fromChris Weitz’s draft, or when exactly Christopher McQuarrie performed this polish. The filmmaker had a shortened post-production schedule onMission: Impossible Rogue Nation, when Paramount pushed it from aChristmas Dayrelease to July 31. It’s possible that he started work on the script just after wrapping up his promotional tour forMission: Impossible Rogue Nation, giving him just enough time to complete a polish before filming onRogue One: A Star Wars Storybegan in mid-August.

All we know about theRogue Onestory is that it follows a group of Rebels who hatch a mission to steal the originalDeath Starplans. The cast includesFelicity Jones,Mads Mikkelsen,Ben Mendelsohn(who is reportedly playing the villain),Alan Tudyk,Diego Luna,Forest Whitaker,Donnie Yen,Riz Ahmed,Jonathan ArisandWen Jiang. It isn’t known how much principal photography is left onRogue One: A Star Wars Story, or when we may see the first trailer.

Christopher McQuarrie won an Oscar for his original screenplayThe Usual Suspects. His other writing credits include The Way of the Gun, his directorial debut, along withValkyrie,The Tourist,Jack the Giant SlayerandEdge of Tomorrow. He also wrote and directedJack ReacherandMission: Impossible Rogue Nation.

It has been rumored thatRogue Onewill be the firstStar Warsmovie to be shot in 70MM. DirectorGareth Edwardsis reportedly using the Ultra Panavision 70 anamorphic lenses which were created specifically forQuentin Tarantino’sThe Hateful Eight. That has never been confirmed, but we’ll have to wait and see as more information starts coming in forRogue One.
