After kicking off Phase 3 with the blockbuster sequelCaptain America: Civil Warearlier this year, Marvel will now introduce fans to the mystical side of the MCU withDoctor Strange. The studio has released an extended featurette, which offers more details on the villains, Stephen Strange’s (Benedict Cumberbatchjourney from being a surgeon to a magical warrior, and a whole lot more! This preview features plenty ofnew footagethat hasn’t been seen in the trailers.
The video begins withBenedict Cumberbatchrevealing just how arrogant his character Stephen Strange really is. After exhausting every resource he can to fix his hands, after a horrifying car accident, Strange heads to Nepal, whereChiwetel Ejiofor’s Baron Mordo introduces Strange to The Ancient One, played byTilda Swinton. We also get new footage of the various “dimensions” that will be shown throughout the movie in thisMarvel Entertainmentvideo.
We also hear from Marvel Studios PresidentKevin Feige, who reveal that the villains, lead byMads Mikkelsen’sKaecilius, are interested in “spilling the barriers between these dimensions.” The producer reveals that this would destroy our entire universe, as we see footage of a city folding under itself, like we saw in a recent poster. We also hear fromRachel McAdams(Christine Palmer),Tilda Swinton(The Ancient One) andChiwetel Ejiofor(Baron Mordo).
Marvel’s Doctor Strange follows the story of the talented neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a tragic car accident, must put ego aside and learn the secrets of a hidden world of mysticism and alternate dimensions. Based in New York City’s Greenwich Village, Doctor Strange must act as an intermediary between the real world and what lies beyond, utilizing a vast array of metaphysical abilities and artifacts to protect the Marvel cinematic universe.
