Dunefans can rejoice. After the long-awaited second part of Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Frank Herbert’s saga was delayed from 2023 to 2024, Warner Bros. and Legendary have decided to moveDune: Part Tworelease date up by two weeks.

In August, when the strikes of writers and actors seemed to have no end, the studios decided that it was too risky to release one of their most important titles of the year without its stars being able to promote it. Furthermore, aware that if the strikes run for a long time, they were going to have to delay many other films planned for next year, they were going to need a big blockbuster to help them at the box office. Especially to Warner Bros. Discovery, which had some of its biggest flops in history in 2023 withShazam! Fury of the Gods,The FlashandBlue Beetle.

Dune: Part Two Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya

Fortunately, fans of the popular science fiction saga will not have to wait that long to finally see the continuation of the story of Timothée Chalamet’s Paul Atreides.Deadlinereports that the release date forDune: Part Twohas been moved up two weeks. Now, instead of hitting theaters on March 15, the movie will be available on March 1st.

Meanwhile, the rest of Warner Bros.’s 2023 schedule remains unchanged. Their upcoming releases includeanother film starring Chalamet,Wonka(December 15),Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom(December 20) and the adaptation ofThe Color Purple(December 25).

Dune: Part Two

As for next year’s big releases, Warner Bros. and Legendary have two other major blockbusters prepared for the beginning of summer and for the end of the year.Godzilla x Kong: The New Empireis hitting theaters on April 12, whileLord of the Rings: The War of Rohirrimwill arrive on December 13. A little earlier, in October, Warner Bros. will release their only comic book movie of the year,Joker: Folie à Deux, on October 4.

What to Expect from Dune: Part Two

The film will pick up after the end of the first part, with Paul Atreides joining Chani and the Freemen in search of revenge against those who destroyed his family and everything he loved. But his path to becoming a hero will not be easy, and choosing between love and the most important battle of his life will be the most difficult decision he has to make.

Joining Chalamet are Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Charlotte Rampling and Javier Bardem who reprise their roles from the first part. Additionally, Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, Christopher Walken, Léa Seydoux, Souheila Yacoub and Tim Blake Nelson will join for this new chapter in the story, again under the direction of Villeneuve.

Currently, a spin-off series titled Dune: Prophecy is in development for Max, while the director has already revealedhis intentions to expand the franchiseeven further with a third part.
