‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’
Adding a new word to the lexicon,I Know What You Did Last Summerhas been touted as a ‘requel,’ acting as both a sequel and a reboot to the horror franchise whose first entry was released in 1997. Still, the movie follows a familiar plot: five friends accidentally run over someone, only to cover it up out of fear of how it will affect their lives. A year later, the group gets a letter with the ominous words “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” followed by a masked killer targeting them.
The return of original stars Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. in supporting roles certainly caters to the nostalgia offans of the slasher classic.
