The horror genre possibly harbors the most valuable props you can think of. Freddy’s glove, Leatherface’s chainsaw and, why not, the cup used by the lady inGet Outto hypnotize Chris. Most horror movies have a specific object that fans would like to own. And as it turns out, you can actually buy one of horror’s most precious objects:Evil Dead’s Necronomicon, a.k.a. the Book of the Dead, which is activated upon reciting some incantations to summon the visciously playful and wicked demons fromSam Raimi’s franchise.

Nevertheless, if horror’s your thing, then the auction will feature something you might want to get your hands on. Tom Sullivan, the special effects wiz who first worked on the original 1981 film, will offer several props at the auction. The most special one is, of course, the Necronomicon, or, as the first film implies, the Naturom Demonto. The object is the book featured inall three movies, and the article’s logline reads as follows:

A screen-matched Naturom Demonto, later known as Necronomicon Ex-Mortis, Book of the Dead from Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead with pages hand-illustrated by the prop’s creator, Tom Sullivan. Archaeologist Raymond Knowby (Bob Dorian) discovered the ancient book known as the Naturom Demonto or “Book of the Dead” and made recordings of reciting the passages, which, when listened to by Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell) and his friends, unleashed the evil force of the Kandarian Demon. Fine details in the hand-illustrated linework and stains from the distressing process screen-match eight pages of this Naturom Demonto to close-ups of its pages in the film.

The Book of the Dead was featured in all three films of the original Evil Dead trilogy. It was referred to as the Naturom Demonto in The Evil Dead, but later as the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis in Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness. This Naturom Demonto is the only Book of the Dead from the very first Evil Dead film known to survive today, and the only hero book ever created.

The Necronomicon isn’t the onlyEvil Deadprop to be auctioned. Tom Sullivan’s work on the film and the short which inspired it,Within the Woods, included a vast array of props and objects that he still keeps in store after decades. Some of the objects that will also be auctioned include:
