If all goes well, it looks likeThe Expendables 4will begin filming this summer. That may be a big if, considering the hurdles this movie has had to overcome in order to even be happening at all, but as of right now, that seems to be the plan. The news comes from franchise starRandy Couture, who reveals thatExpendables 4is currently scheduled to begin filming in August.

Randy Couture has been part ofThe Expendablesfranchise from the very beginning and it looks like he’sgetting back together with Sylvester Stalloneand the gang for the upcoming fourth installment. Stallone ran into disagreements with producer Avi Lerner about the direction ofExpendables 4last year, which led to theproject being delayed. However, it appears to be back on track and Couture is excited about the prospect. Here’s what he had to say about it in a recent interview.

“I’m excited about Expendables 4. Right now, we’re scheduled to start filming in August and hopefully we’re able to stay on schedule. It sounds like we’re coming back to Bulgaria, which is exciting. I’ve spent a lot of time in Sofia and Varna and I’m excited to come back. I love the people (there), I love the food and I’m excited to come back.”

That doesn’t reveal much about the plot, but it confirms the tease that Sylvester Stallone posted to Instagram in January aboutExpendables 4being back on track. No official announcement has been made by the studio, but it’s clear that whateverdisagreementshave been going on behind the scenes have managed to work themselves out somehow. Now it’s just a question of actually getting the alleged final movie in the franchise into production.

Sylvester Stallone is currently busy filmingCreed 2. At one point, he was going to direct the movie, but ultimately decided not to. That should free him up once he’s done filming to take onExpendables 4. No director has been announced for the project yet and, since he directed the first movie, it’s not unreasonable to think that maybe he would want to direct the last movie in the series as well. This franchise really is his baby and if he wants to ensure this movie takesThe Expendablesout on a high note, directing it may be one way to do that.

Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Steve Austin, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Chuck Norris, Mel Gibson, Wesley Snipes, Harrison Ford and Kelsey Grammer have all starred inExpendablesmovies over the years. At the present time, it’s not clearwho’s coming backthis time around. One fairly safe bet is thatExpendables 4will be R-rated.The Expendables 3experimented with a PG-13 rating and it was a low for the franchise both in terms of box office and reception from fans and critics. So it’s doubtful they would go down that road again. The project doesn’t currently have a release date, but if it shoots in August, it’s likely we’ll see the movie in late 2019.
