This holiday season, a whole new side of theHarry Potter universeis being explored with the first ever big screen spin-offFantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Warner Bros. has debuted 9 new character posters. And they feature some of the weird, wonderful and oftentimes downright evil denizens of this bygone era in wizardry and magic.
First up is magizoologist Newt Scamander, who has scoured the world looking for all of the Fantastic Beasts of the title. Next up is Queenie Goldstein, otherwise known as a Legilimens. Then there is her sister Porpentina Goldstein, who is Auror of the MACUSA. Newt’s new best friend is Jacob Kowalski, a non-wizard who is more commonly referred to as a No-Maj. On the slightly less trustworthy side of this universe is Mary Lou, leader of the Second Salemers. But if we want to get down right evil, we should look no further than Director of Magical Security Percival Graves and his young pupil Credence, who is second Salemer. Rounding out these interesting new characters is President ofMACUSASeraphina Picquery and the odd little man known as Gnarlak, who is a goblin gangster.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens in 1926 asNewt Scamanderhas just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident…were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.
The film marks the screenwriting debut ofJ.K. Rowling, whose beloved Harry Potter books were adapted into the top-grossing film franchise of all time. Her script was inspired by the Hogwarts textbook Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, written by her character Newt Scamander.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was filmed at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, which was home to theHarry Potter filmsfor a decade.
