It looks like the upcoming fifth season of AMC’s hitThe Walking Deadspin-offFear the Walking Deadwill be hitting the network on Sunday, June 2nd. And to get all of you fellow fans pumped for what is sure to be the best season yet, today we have the season 5 trailer to share with you guys! The trailer for Season 5 screened for fans at WonderCon, the pop culture expo at Anaheim Convention Center earlier this weekend and we hear good things, so I’m glad the powers that be behind the scenes were gracious enough to drop the trailer on the general public soon after. After all, nothing’s worse than having to endure a buddy who saw it at WonderCon and won’t stop talking about it. You know, not to name names or anything.
And speaking of WonderCon, evidentlyFear the Walking Deadpulled out all the stops at the convention this weekend. The top bit of promotion was what has been described as an “all-hands-on-deck” panel. The panel is said to have included showrunners Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg, along with executive producer Scott M. Gimple, Michael Satrazemisnine, and nine cast members. The cast present for the panel included Lennie James, Colman Domingo, Alycia Debnam-Carey, Danay Garcia, Garret Dillahunt, Maggie Grace, Jenna Elfman, Alexa Nisenson, and Austin Amelio.
Fear the Walking Deadis currently the #4 drama on cable among adults 18-49, and President of AMC Networks Entertainment Group, Sarah Barnett, says the “rejuvenated series” is moving in exciting new directions. Specifically, Barnett says:
“Showrunners Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg brilliantly reinvented Fear in its fourth season to much critical acclaim, and we can’t wait to share with fans what they have in store for Season 5.”
Fear the Walking Deadseason 5 will make the group’s mission clear: locate survivors and help shape what’s left of the world into a slightly better place. Morgan Jones (James) leads the group with With dogged determination and a philosophy rooted in benevolence, community, and hope. Each character believes that helping others will allow them to make up for the wrongs of their pasts. But trust isn’t easily earned. Their mission of helping others will be put to the ultimate test when the group finds themselves in unchartered territory, one which will force them to face not just their pasts but also their fears. It is only through facing those fears that the group will discover an entirely new way to live, one that will leave them forever changed.
Produced by AMC Studios,Fear the Walking Deadis executive produced by Scott M. Gimple, Andrew Chambliss, Ian Goldberg, Robert Kirkman, David Alpert, Gale Anne Hurd, and Greg Nicotero. And if checking out the season 5 premiere ofFear the Walking Deadwasn’t reason enough to stay home on a Sunday night for some horror TV, the premiere will act as a lead-in for another much-anticipated series. Yes, the season five premiere will air right before the series premiere of AMC’s adaptation of Stephen King’s son, Joe Hill’s 2013 novelNOS4A2starring Zachary Quinto as Charlie Manx and Ashleigh Cummings as Vic McQueen.
