In a strikingly bold move, following the deep wake of badBatman v Supermanreviews, Marvel has positioned its counter attack by allowing reviewers to post their earlyCaptain America: Civil Warreactions across all platforms of social media. And two things have been quick to emerge as unanimous across the board.Tom Hollandis stellar as the newSpider-Man. And this movie is definitely way better thanDawn of Justice. Make of that what you will, superhero fans!
Many members of the press have already been treated to a special advanced screening ofCaptain America: Civil War. Last night at 11pm (PST), Disney and Marvel allowed these lucky viewers to forgo an embargo nearly a month out, with positive reactions hitting Twitter and Facebook throughout the night. The movie doesn’t open until May 6, and the studios are planning a major CinemaCon screening on April 13. Fans don’t have to wait that long for a verdict, though. Apparently Marvel has done it again, with many claiming the movie is as good or better than 2014’sCaptain America: The Winter Soldier, which is the highest rated Marvel movie to date.

It is highly unusual for a studio to not only show this type of big budget blockbuster this early to critics, it is also unorthodox to allow such early reactions in advanced of its premiere. Which means Disney is beyond confident that it has a major hit on its hands. It fact, some are banking this will be the biggest movie of the year, and has a chance at breaking all kinds of box office records. The big question is, will it be able to dethrone Disney’s last behemothStar Wars: The Force Awakens?
The most noted bit of praise for the movie goes toTom HollandasSpider-Man. Apparently he’s in the movie way more than anyone thought he would be. And the actor kills it as Peter Parker according to these short review blasts. Also receiving high praise isChadwick Bosemanas Black Panther. The movie sounds like a lot of fun. At least, it sounds more fun than what Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice gave us. On that note, that seems to be the big distinction between the Marvel and DC movie universes. One is colorful, vibrant and full of humor, the other is dark, dour and sort of depressing. But those are intended tones, and they work at differentiating the two big screen properties, so we shouldn’t dismiss the DCEU so fast.
