Fred Armisenis a “happy monster” in the new trailer for Tim Burton’s newAddams Family-themed seriesWednesday, which will debut on July 27, 2025, on Netflix. The announcement, which happened during the Netflix’sWednesdaypanel at New York Comic Con on Saturday, October 8, comes after months ofstudio secrecy and fan speculationsurrounding who would be playing the Addams Family favorite. But now thatââfans of the much-loved Addams Family franchise know who will be playing the lovable oaf, the next burning question on their minds is probably: bald cap or shaved head? The answer: “I shaved my head for [the role],” Armisen toldVanity Fair.
In the new trailer,Wednesdayfans finally get a glimpse of Uncle Fester, who likes to travel incognito (which may explain his absence from all the marketing material). But Wednesday’s uncle has returned to help the young student at Nevermore Academy solve a mystery of cooky, spooky proportions. Netflix describes the series as a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday’s attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.

Uncle Fester Is a Counterweight to Wednesday Addams
InVanity Fair’s exclusive first look published concurrently with the NYCC panel, Fred Armisen discussed his character’s role in the series. Uncle Fester is “someone on the run, but he has a strong link to the family and to Wednesday,” said thePortlandiaactor. “They have a really good time together, and they help each other. It’s a real family thing, but they’re friends as well.”
