The upcoming 8th and final season ofGame of Throneswill be divisive, according toDaenerys Targaryenactress Emilia Clarke. Production is currently underway for HBO’s massively popular series and details are scarce at the moment due to the intense security that the show puts in place to keep leaks from occurring. The intense security on the set was spoofed by Clarke in a recent video promoting a charity event /contest that allows the winner to go visit the set ofGame of Thronesand have lunch with the cast.

Emilia Clarke is currently out promotingSolo: A Star Wars Story, which is just as secretive asGame of Thrones. Discussions about the latestStar Warsmovie are usually followed up with requests for updates on the show, putting the cast in awkward situations. However, they’re all used to it by now and Clarke is a total pro when asked about theupcoming Season 8ofGame of Thrones. Instead of giving anything away, Emilia Clarke speaks about the ending in very broad terms that still seem very intriguing. She had this to say.

“People will scream and people will say, that’s exactly what I wanted. And some people will go, Huh? - My mum, probably.”

IfGame of Throneshas taught its fans anything, it’s that things don’t always go the way that you expect or want them to. Basically, it seems that the ending of the series will not go out on a happy note with everybody celebrating. Even if it does end up with a semi-happy ending, there will be the deaths of some beloved characters along the way, which will certainly divide fans of the hit HBO show.

As for when we’ll be able to see the end ofGame of Thrones, that has not been officially announced by HBO at this time. It is believed that Season 8 willdebut sometime in 2019, with many fans praying that it premieres in very early 2019. The season will be shorter, but the 6 episodes will make up for it by being a lot longer than we’ve seen in the past to properly tell the story. It’s been rumored that some of the episodes could be up to 90 minutes long, which is pretty exciting.

While no real specifics aboutGame of ThronesSeason 8 have been revealed, we do know that the final season will contain the biggest battle that has ever been seen on the show, even beating out the legendaryBattle of the Bastardsfrom Season 6. Other than that, there’s a whole load of possibilities that the final season can get into. Just don’t expect everybody to die in a frozen zombie apocalypse. That rumor was laid to rest byGame of Thronesauthor George R.R. Martin. But according to Martin and Emilia Clarke, fans will be treated to a bittersweet ending to the series.
