Cersei and Tyrion Lannister learn about respect in the newSesame StreetandGame of Thronescrossover video. The two siblings, who don’t like each other very much, are seen at a table, trying to work out their differences. Lena Headley and Peter Dinklage reprise their characters as Elmo stops by for a surprise visit to help bring peace to Westeros. Additionally, HBO brought back Bernard (Jeffrey Wright) and Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) fromWestworldin another respect-themed video to help celebrate the 50th anniversary ofSesame Street.
While Cersei and Tyrion are arguing, Elmo of HouseSesame Street, fresh with his Dorothy’s Fish Tank sigil, appears at the table, much to the surprise of the arguing siblings. Elmo schools them on respect and then suggests they should listen to each other. Tyrion quickly agrees, while Cersei, still looking a little disgusted at the red monster with the high-pitched voice, decides to “try” and respect and listen to her brother. If only things were that easy onGame of Thrones.
Next up,Cookie Monsterheads toWestworldto meet up with Bernard and Dolores. The two characters have had their differences throughout the two seasons of the show and Cookie Monster is here to help the two robots respect each other through the use of, you guessed it, cookies. “Respect is important for everybody. People, monsters, even you, robot lady,” says the blue monster. While the parody is full of inside jokes from the show and the acting is perfect, it’s the end of the video with theSesame Streettheme being played in the eerieWestworld-style on piano.
“Respect Brings Us Together” is the sloganSesame Streetis using to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The respect campaign is “highlighting the importance of respecting one another, even in disagreement-and even in the case of sworn enemies.” The use of HBO’s biggest shows should help in getting theSesame Streetmessage along to the adults and not just their usual child audience, since both of these new videos can be enjoyed by people of all ages, which isn’t the case forWestworldandGame of Thrones, which are strictly for adults only.
