The upcoming action thriller,Plane, starringGerard ButlerandLuke Cagestar Mike Colter will land (apologies) in theaters a little earlier than expected.Planewas originally scheduled to be released August 05, 2025, but will now hit the big screen on July 03, 2025, instead. The change in release date, which comes viaDeadline, is reportedly due tothe recent trailer forPlanereceiving a positive response online.
Planepromises to be a white-knuckle action thrill ride and begins when commercial pilot Brodie Torrance (Gerard Butler) completes an emergency landing after a ravaging storm damages the aircraft. Saving his passengers from catastrophic lightning strikes, Torrance is forced to make a risky landing on a war-torn island - only to find that surviving the landing was just the beginning.

When most of the passengers are taken hostage by dangerous rebels, and with rescue struggling to find their location and running out of time, the only person Torrance can count on for help is Louis Gaspare (Mike Colter), an accused murderer who was being transported by the FBI. In order to rescue the passengers, Torrance will need Gaspare’s help, and will learn there’s more to Gaspare than meets the eye. Together, they must fight to rescue the passengers and escape the island.

Planelooks like the perfect vehicle for Gerard Butler to once again do his reliable, gruff-talking action hero thing,with the actor due to continue his legacy as a modern-day action man over the next few years.Butler will reunite withAngel Has FallenandGreenlanddirector Ric Roman Waugh forKandahar, which finds the actor starring as an undercover CIA operative who is stuck deep in hostile territory in Afghanistan. He must fight his way out, alongside his Afghan translator, to an extraction point in Kandahar, all whilst avoiding the elite special forces tasked with hunting them down.
And speaking ofGreenland,Butler will return to the world as it was at the end of the 2020 disaster movie. Now navigating his way through the post-apocalypse,Greenland: Migrationwill pick up where the first movie let off, reintroducing the Garrity family, who survived a near-extinction level event when an interstellar comet hits the earth, and must now leave the safety of the Greenland bunker and embark on a perilous journey across the decimated frozen wasteland of Europe to find a new home.
So, audiences can delight in the B-movie style action ofPlanea bit earlier, with the Gerard Butler outing now scheduled to be released in theaters in the United States on June 10, 2025, by Lionsgate.
