Released back in 2023, the action thrillerKandaharfinds Ric Roman Waugh directing from a script written by Mitchell LaFortune. Starring Gerard Butler alongside Ali Fazal, Navid Negahban, Bahador Foladi, Nina Toussaint-White, Tom Rhys Harries, Vassilis Koukalani, Mark Arnold, Corey Johnson, and Travis Fimmel, the spy outing is loosely based on real events, and finds Butler in the lead as a CIA operative fighting to flee Afghanistan with his translator in tow.

Despite the reliably charismatic Gerard Butler,Kandaharproved to be deeply divisiveamong critics and audiences. The action outing holds a score of just 45% from the former on Rotten Tomatoes, alongside a starkly different 82% from the latter. “If you’re looking for lots of action, a story that keeps you guessing, and more of Gerard Butler doing what he does best,Kandahardelivers,” the audience consensus reads. Gerard Butler and Ric Roman Waugh are all set toreunite for the long-awaited sequel,Greenland: Migration, which has finally been given a release date. While the firstGreenland, released in 2020, was a survival disaster movie, the follow-up promises to be positively post-apocalyptic.
Released back in December 2020,Greenlandbegins when scientists discover that fragments of a comet will hit Earth in a few days and cause the extinction of humanity. The only hope of survival is to take shelter in a group of bunkers in Greenland, with the story following Butler as father and husband John Garrity, who must fight through the chaos to get his family to safety before the comet collides with the planet.

Directed once again by Ric Roman Waugh, and written by Mitchell LaFortune and Chris Sparling,Greenland: Migrationstars Morena Baccarin, Amber Rose Revah, Sophie Thompson, Trond Fausa Aurvåg, and William Abadie alongside Butler. The sequel will pick up with the Garrity family several years later.Leaving the salvation of the bunker, John must now fight to survive in the post-apocalypse, traveling across the wasteland that was once Europe in the hopes of finding a new home.
After waiting five years for the follow-up, audiences will have to wait just a little longer, as Lionsgate has now revealed thatGreenland: Migrationwill land in theaterson July 06, 2025, taking the place of Jason Statham’s action thrillerMutiny, which will now be a summer release.
