Next year, we’ll be getting our firstTom HollandledSpider-Manfilm and a thirdThormovie that is shaping up to be pretty awesome. But even with that,James Gunn’sGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2may be the most anticipated of the bunch. The film is currently deep into production, and becauseGunnis so active on social media, we have learned a few little details here and there. But we still haven’t really known who the Guardians will be squaring off against. A new report seems to finally confirm who the main villain of the film will be.
According toJoBlo, the main villain inGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2will be Ayesha, who has gone by many other names inMarvel Comics history. You may also know her as Kismet, Paragon or simply Her. The character is an artificial super being, who was created by the Enclave in the comics, who also created Adam Warlock, and is pretty much the male version of Ayesha. He has long been rumored to appear inVol. 2as well. As for who is playing the villain, that wasn’t confirmed, but she has probably already been cast.
A while back it was announced thatThe Great GatsbyandThe Man From U.N.C.L.E.starElizabeth Debickiwas added to the cast, but her role has not been announced. Given her look and the look of the character, it seems pretty logical thatDebickiwill be playing Kismet. Again, this is not confirmed, but she has been cast in an as of yet unspecified role and she fits the bill. It is entirely possible that Marvel may be bringing in another actress for the role and thatDebickiwill be playing someone else entirely.
Outside of learning who the villain is forVol. 2, we know that the central cast ofChris Pratt,Zoe Saldana,Bradley Cooper,Dave BautistaandVin Dieselwill all be reprising their roles. There have been quite a few new additions as well, includingPom Klementieffas Mantis,Chris Sullivanas Taserface,Tommy Flanaganas Tullk, andSylvester StalloneandKurt Russell, whose roles have not yet been confirmed. However, it has been heavily rumored thatRussellwill be playingStar-Lord’s fatherin the film, but that we likely won’t know for sure until later. Other reports also surfaced, claiming to have seenStallonein armor that resembled his original Judge Dredd outfit.
The originalGuardians of the Galaxy moviewas viewed as amassive riskfor Marvel Studios, but really became the thing that proved just how strong the brand was.
