The latest issue of Empire Magazine is an embarrassment of riches when it comes toSuicide Squad. Today, we get two more alternate covers, one featuringWill Smithas Deadshot. The other bringingMargot Robbie’s Harley Quinn to life in vivid color. These follow the first two covers, which showed two different versions ofJared Leto’s The Joker. And yesterday we got to see the wickedCara Delevingneas Enchantress.

There has been so much stuff pouring out of this upcoming issue of Empire Magazine that some have even dubbed it the unofficial Suicide Squad week. Also included in the magazine are plenty of never-before-seen character photos and a ton of quotes from the cast and the filmmakers behind this DC Comics adventure that centers on a group of super villains brought together for an impossible mission.

Empire Magazine spoke to directorDavid Ayer, who offered some new insight into the intense relationship betweenJared Leto’s Joker andMargot Robbie’sHarley Quinn. While production was under way, we saw set photos where Joker slaps Harley, while other images showed her happily riding along in his souped-up sports car. The director says that her story centers on “breaking free” from The Joker.

“It’s about her breaking free of The Joker and becoming this fully actualized, independent person. That really is a metaphor for everyone’s journey here.”

While Harley is trying to distance herself from The Joker, it seems thatWill Smith’s Deadshot is “eyeballing” her as well. We haven’t really seen them interact in the trailer, but there were set photos that revealed Deadshot carrying Harley, although there didn’t seem to be anything particularly romantic about it. Then again, Harley and Deadshot were romantically involved in the New 52 comics. Here’s whatWill Smithhad to say about his potential romance with Harley Quinn, while teasing the opening of the movie, which essentially confirms previous rumors

“Harley is the biggest troublemaker, but Deadshot’s actually eyeballing her a little bit. There’s a pretty ragged romantic triangle there. As the movie opens, he has a really big career score. He’s looking to turn over a new leaf with his daughter after the hit, but it goes wrong. It goes terribly, terribly wrong. And it lands him in Belle Reve for life.”
