Over recent years, many documentaries, biopics, and dramas have focused on the royal family. That trend only seems to be intensifying lately, with 2021’sSpencerreceiving great reviews across the board. As the British royal family’s lives become a focus in more American households,Netflixis jumping into the fraywithHarry & Meghan. This documentary series is set to focus on a much more recent event – one where the dust hasn’t quite settled yet. So what does this documentary series have to say about Harry and Meghan’s relationship?

Harry & Meghan: The Plot
At its heart, Netflix’sHarry & Meghanis a love story. The six-part series is set to follow the couple from the beginning of their relationship all the way to the present. The synopsis reads:
“Harry & Meghanis an unprecedented six-part documentary series that explores the span of their relationship, from the early days of the couple’s courtship to the challenges and controversies that led them to feeling forced to step back from their full-time roles in the institution.”
Not only is the documentary following the couple’s story from the beginning, but it seems it will also feature interviews with Harry and Meghan themselves. Along with those, the series will speak with close friends of the two, family members, and historians. Tracking the couple’s relationship through more thanthe archival media footagethat put them under so much scrutiny, Netflix is settingHarry & Meghanup to be an honest look at the couple’s life and journey. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex said in a statement:
“We are grateful to have the ability to share our love story through such an esteemed creative team and with the global reach of Netflix,” . “We hope it helps others to heal, and to feel inspired.”
With an endorsement from Harry and Meghan themselves, it seems this documentary series has much going for it beyond the appeal and intrigue ofthe couple’s relationship. While there were many cameras trained on the two for so long, capturing and broadcasting their intimate, private lives for years, we’re excited to see a documentary that goes deeper than that footage when it would be easy to settle for an archival documentary.
Harry & Meghanis shaping up to be a serious look at what went on behind the scenes, and we’re hopeful for content that doesn’t sensationalize what the two went through to get out of the limelight.
