When it comes to found footagehorrorfranchises, the one that immediately pops into most people’s minds is theParanormal Activityseries. However, in 2015 one came along that, while not as universally recognized, found its way into the hearts of genre fans, and has gone on to become a cult favorite. Written and directed by Stephen Cognetti,Hell House LLCredefined what a found footage horror movie could be, and as such, it went on to spawn three sequels that were equally terrifying. Now, Cognetti is at it again with the fifth entry in the saga,Hell House LLC: Lineage, which ditches the found footage format for what could be the final film in the series.

Is This Really the End for the ‘Hell House LLC’ Franchise?

Running for 10 long years, it’s hard to imagine that a horror franchise can really come to an end. After all, we’ve seen the resurrection of theHalloweenseries many times, and are on the cusp of seeingthe revival ofFriday the 13thwith the new Peacock series,Crystal Lake. They always manage to claw their way back in some form or fashion, but when it comes toHell House LLC, it could truly be the end of an era. Posting on X at the timeLineagebegan filming, Cognetti proclaimed:

“Here we go! Day one of what will likely be the last but also the scariest Hell House!”

When it came to the shift in narrative structure for what could be the final movie, Cognetti told Bloody Disgusting that it was something that needed to be done if he wanted to end the series on a high note. However, that shouldn’t deter fans from checking it out, asLineagewill answer a lot of questions we’ve been asking since the beginning:

“When I began outliningHell House LLC: Lineage, I realized the story, scope and most importantly, the scares I wanted to tell required a change in the format to truly do it right. I’m excited for fans to see a Hell House story told in a completely different way, answering old mysteries while still adding more depth to the Abaddon story.”

you’re able to see for yourself ifHell House LLC: Lineageis really the “scariest” of them all when it makes its way into theaters on August 20 courtesy of Terror Films and Iconic Events.
