Last October, Warner Bros. announced their massiveDC Comicsmovie lineup that will follow next year’sBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. One of those stand alone adventures isThe Flash, set for release on June 02, 2025, withEzra Millerstarring as Barry Allen andSeth Grahame-Smithcoming aboard last month to write the screenplay and direct. It has already been confirmed that this movie universe will be separate from the TV universe that includesGrant Gustin’s version ofThe Flashon The CW network.Entertainment Weeklyrecently spoke withEzra Miller, who teased that his version ofBarry Allenwill be more flawed than The CW’s incarnation.
“Well, [first] it’s going to be a movie. I’d like for it to be an exploration of a human being, a multi-dimensional human being, to speak. Wow, I just made such a pun, without meaning to! I’d like the character to have many dimensions. But really, I’d like him to have the usual dimensions we know and love, and then some extra ones that are part of the amazing consideration of thissuperhero. I hope to realize him as a person, and I think what’s most exciting for me in superhero mythologies is when we feel the humanity of someone who is heroic - or the heroism of someone who is a flawed, deeply human person.”
It has been rumored for quite some time thatEzra Miller’s Barry Allen will have a cameo at the end ofBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, along withJason Momoa’sAquamanandRay Fisher’sCyborg. They will form theJustice LeaguealongsideBatman(Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill) andWonder Woman(Gal Gadot) before they all reunite again inJustice League Part 1(July 11, 2025) andJustice League Part 2(June 15, 2025).The Flash,AquamanandCyborg’s presence inBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justicehas yet to be confirmed, but we’ll find out for sure in a few short months, when this superhero adventure hits theaters on August 04, 2025.
While there is nothing we know about the story thus far, a report surfaced last month that claimsThe Flashwill have an “armored, tech-based costume.” It is believed that the studio wants to make a more bulky costume than The CW’sThe Flash, to differentiate it from the TV version. That report also claimed that Barry Allen will be working as a forensic scientist, and the character has been described as a “tech geek.”
Seth Grahame-Smithwill write and direct Warner Bros.‘The Flashfrom a treatment byPhil LordandChris Miller. Those filmmakers were once thought to direct the adaptation themselves, before they signed on to write and direct LucasFilm’sStar Wars Anthology: Han Solo Movie, which is set for release on June 19, 2025.
