The Falcon and the Winter Soldiermay have some stories based on the events ofAvengers: Endgame. While the new Disney+ series has been officially announced, we don’t know exactly what it will be about. With that being said,Endgamescreenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely have teased some possible storylines for the upcoming show, which are all based off of what happened to the characters in the movie.
In the commentary track forAvengers: Endgame, screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeelylay out some more information about the scenes along with the Russo Brothers. When watching Steve Rogers hand over the shield to Sam Wilson, the two screenwriters gave some possible hints of what could occur inThe Falcon and the Winter Soldierseries. Markus had this to say when talking about the climactic scene.
“Sam represents everythingCaptain Americais supposed to represent, which is the idea of what this country could be. And Bucky, as I’ve said before, in a way he represents what this country actually is, which is a murky, political situation as evidenced in Winter Soldier. But Captain America has always represented the idea behind the country.”
As for how Christopher Markus' thoughts possibly pertain toThe Falcon and the Winter Soldierseries, Stephen McFeely had some ideas.Marvel Cinematic Universefans have been wondering what the show will be about and many of them have more than likely echoed McFeely’s thoughts at some point. Hopefully some of these aspects make it into the show. McFeely explains.
“Well it’s a rich story going forward, if Marvel chooses to explore it. What does it mean for this man with his own identity as Falcon, to take on another one? What does it mean for an African-American man to take on the mantle of Captain America? How does he feel about that? Is he honored? Does he chafe against it? You know, there’s a lot of rich stuff to explore there.”
These ideas are by no means official storylines for theDisney+ series. They are simply some ideas where Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely think the story could go. Joe Russo even added that the idea of passing on an identity in the MCU had yet to be explored beforeEndgame. That’s another avenue the upcoming show can take too. However, we still don’t know if Sam Wilson will be taking on the Captain America moniker in the show yet.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldieris all set to start shooting this fall. No release date has been announced at this time, but Bob Iger has said the show should debut in 2020, which makes sense. It’s going to probably take a while to get all of the footage needed for an entire series, though we don’t know how long it will be yet. Scarlet Witch actress Elizabeth Olsen believes her show,WandaVIsionwill be about 6 hours long, so it’s safe to assumeThe Falcon and the Winter Soldierwill be the same. HopefullyMarvel Studioswill drops some more news about the show soon.
