AMC’sThe Walking DeadSeason 8 premieres Sunday night on AMC and it is a show that pretty much needs to be consumed live, but how does one go about doing so without cable? Better yet, how can you watch the episode for free? Thankfully there are plenty of ways to watch the show for free and legally. It’s been quite a while (April 2nd) since we’ve seen new episodes ofThe Walking Deadand the previews that were shown over the summer atSan Diego Comic Conand earlier this fall at the New York Comic Con have just teased us, but tonight,All Out Warfinally starts.

First, it’s important to note that tonight’s debut of Season 8 ofThe Walking Deadwill be an additional 7-minutes long andThe Talking Deadwill be a full 2-hours long after the show airs live on AMC. In addition, tonight is the100th episodeof the hit show, which mean we could be in for more surprises than just a normal season premiere, which adds to the urgency to find somewhere you can watch the show without a traditional cable setup.

One of the easiest ways to watchThe Walking Deadlive is through the live TV service Sling. Sling works on tablets, laptops, phones, and gaming consoles, which in its most basic form costs $20 dollars a month, but if you’re a first-time user, you get the first 7 days for free. All you need to do is enter email address and payment info, and boom, one free week of live TV that you can cancel at any time. Sling has a really simple user interface and also has a bunch of premium add-ons, if you decide to keep the service. The app for tablets and computers is just as easy to download and use. In addition to the aforementioned ways to use Sling, there is also an app for Roku, Nexus Player, and ZTE.

In addition, YouTubeTV also offers up a free trial period and then it costs $35 dollars a month, which is more expensive than Sling, but you could try both services for free and watch the next 3 episodes ofSeason 8 of The Walking Deadlive and for free. After the trial periods, choose which one you like better or you can try the next method. It should be noted that the next method does require cable access.

Another way to freely and legally watchThe Walking Dead Season 8 premierelive is through the AMC website. You’ll have to sign in to watch the full episodes as they air. First you have to choose your cable provider, then you’ll be asked to do an in-home validation. For some, the validation will sign you in automatically if it detects your network. Others may need to create an account and use their cable username and password to complete the process.

If you miss streaming it live on AMC’s website, your opportunity isn’t over. Full videos of each episode are typically available the day after the show airs, for a limited time, for people with a cable subscription. In some cases, AMC has allowed certain episodes to be watched for free after they air for a limited time to anybody, regardless of a cable subscription or not. Since tonight is the 100th episode, the network may offer up something for free to entice viewers to watch the rest of the season.
