Groot is back in new fun adventures for the second season ofI Am Groot, a collection of short films centered on the popular character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Following the good reception of the first batch of episodes which premiered last year, a second season was rapidly announced by Disney+ and Marvel Studios, and is almost here. On Sunday, thefirst trailer for the second installmentof the show was release, announcing its arrival on September 6:

The new season will also include five different chapters where Groot will be traveling across the galaxy for new adventures crossing paths with some other characters. The show seems to me taking place before the events shown onGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which is now available to watch onDisney+after an amazing theatrical run and giving a closure to the story of the popular group of misfits united by James Gunn.
No details have been shared about the plot of these new episodes, but as the trailer shows, fans can expect a lot of fun and chaos being unleashed by Groot across the universe, even visiting a world that seems to be a tribute toIndiana Jones, a character who recently returned to the big screen thanks toIndiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, which is said to be the last ride of Harrison Ford as the famous archeologist.

The Future of Groot Within the MCU
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3had a bitter-sweet ending. On the one hand, it gave the team a last adventure together that was the most emotional they’ve ever been into, but it was also the last one for many of them. Peter Quill aka Star-Lord went back to Earth to reunite with his grandfather and connect with his roots. It was also teased that Chris Pratt’s character would return soon, but it’s unsure how and when.
In the legend that appeared confirming the hero would be back, it read “The Legendary Star-Lord Will Return”, referring to a 12 issues series of comic books published in 2014 that features Quill having some adventures on his own, so that could be the future of the character.
But, what about Groot? Well, the famous Flora Colossus will be part of the new line-up of theGuardians of the Galaxy, which is led by Rocket, and includes Adam Warlock, Kraglin, Phyla and Cosmo the Spacedog. There’s no confirmation of when and how these characters will return, or even if they will be using the previous name, but they could be joining the rest of the heroes of the franchise either for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty or Avengers: Secret Wars.
Since James Gunn has officially departure theMCUto lead DC Studios and create his own universe based on the DC Comics characters, it seems unlikely for the Guardians of the Galaxy to star in any other film on their own, but there’s always a chance.
