BeforeIndependence Day 2went into production, there was talk that directorRoland Emmerichmay shoot two sequels back-to-back, but that never materialized. Shortly after the first trailer was released, a viral website revealed Hiller was killed in 2007, after alien technology malfunctioned.ID4 2is in theaters June 24.
