The report claims that Warner Bros. has spent a whopping $410 million, which, if accurate, would put it incredibly close to breaking the record of $410.6 million, spent by Disney on 2011’sPirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, according to financial documents obtained byForbes. Before that movie went into production,Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chesthad the record with $341.8 million, followed byCleopatra, which cost $44 million to produce in 1963, which comes out to $339.5 million when adjusted for inflation.
As of now, Warner Bros.’ hasn’t confirmed how much they have spent onBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and it isn’t known why exactly so much was spent, but the site claims that, “the addition of big name cast members, practical sets, and an extended production schedule could have all contributed” to the massive budget. This news comes just a few days after another unverified report claimed thatMarvelmay be spending a cool $1 billion on bothAvengers: Infinity War Part IandAvengers: Infinity War - Part IIcombined. Warner Bros. is also mounting their own two-part superhero movie,Justice League Part 1andJustice League Part 2, with sources claiming the studio plans to spend $500 million on both movies combined. DirectorZack Snyderand his team are currently prepping for a 16-month shoot in London, which includes pre-production and principal photography.
