Is This the Avengers Quinjet on the Thor: Ragnarok Set?

Leading into this summer’sCaptain America: Civil War, practically every established superhero in theMarvel Cinematic Universewas featured, with two notable exceptions: Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). Their exclusion made much more sense when it was confirmed thatMark Ruffalowill return to the MCU inThor: Ragnarok, with the story reportedly including a “cosmic road trip” that both heroes will go on. Over the weekend, a new set photo surfaced that reveals an iconic MCU vehicle will be featured.

Twitteruser “Bigr1g” posted an aerial photo from the Village Roadshow Studios set in Australia, which shows that construction is under way on the iconicQuinjet. Of course, this makes plenty of sense and follows the MCU continuity, since the last time we saw Hulk was when he commandeered a QuinJet at the end of last summer’s blockbusterAvengers: Age of Ultron, taking off for parts unknown after causing so much damage. There have been plenty of rumors about where Hulk will be in this movie, which were essentially confirmed at Comic-Con.

Earlier reports claimed that Thor will be banished from Asgard by the villainous Hela (Cate Blanchett) after she destroys his iconic hammer Mjolnir. Thor reportedly ends up on a gladiator planet, where he is forced to face the planet’s current champion, Hulk. While no official plot details have been unveiled yet, Marvel did showcase thegladiator Hulkarmor at Comic-Con last month, essentially confirming this rumored story line. It is believed thatThor: Ragnarokwill take aspects from the iconic Planet Hulk comic book, which many fans have wanted to see turned into a movie.

Returning franchise starsChris Hemsworth,Tom Hiddleston(Loki),Idris Elba(Heimdall) andAnthony Hopkins(Odin) will be joined by a slew of new characters this time out. Two-time Oscar-winnerCate Blanchettjoins this Marvel Studios' adventure as the mysterious and powerful new villain Hela, along withJeff Goldblum, who joins the cast as the eccentric Grandmaster,Tessa Thompsonwho will bring the classic hero Valkyrie to life on the big screen, andKarl Urbanwho will add his might to the fray as Skurge. Marvel has set a August 06, 2025 release date forThor: Ragnarok.

Taika Waititiis directing, marking his biggest movie to date. The New Zealand native filmmaker is best known for comedies such asEagle vs. Shark,What We Do In the Shadowsand this year’sHunt For the Wilderpeople. Production onThor: Ragnarokhas been under way since early July, with filming slated to take place through October. Only time will tell what plotlinesThor 3really holds.
