From the vampire book that took the world by storm getting its own television series to theSalem’s Lotremake, we’re sure this subgenre has something exciting for every kind of paranormal horror fan.
The trend has been laid to rest for many years now, and there was fear that vampires might never see the light of… er, night… again. Fortunately, it looks like the vampire might be getting a second chance at life with a slew of new films and beloved classics being remade! Withmany new shows, reboots, and continuations announced for popular vampire franchises, we’re sure this trend is making a resurgence – now, let’s see what the new vampire craze has in store for its avid fans!
Will You Let the Right One In?
With so many popular vampire franchises to choose from, we’re excitedto seeLet the Right One Ingetting its own Showtime series! The 2008 film directed by Tomas Alfredson was set in Sweden and followed the story of 12-year-old Oskar, whose friendship with the neighbor girl Eli leads to a horrifying realization.

The new Showtime series will be a bit different, as evidenced by its summary on Showtime:
“Mark and his daughter Eleanor’s lives were changed forever 10 years earlier when she was turned into a vampire. Interviewing the Vampire
The vampire craze has been around for far longer thanTwilight– in fact, one of the most popular Vampire franchises was spawned by the novelInterview With the Vampireby Anne Rice, published in 1976. Fans of the original book and 1994 film of the same title were some of the first to be part of a “fandom” as we know it today, creating fanworks based upon theInterview With the Vampirefranchise. Infamously, Anne Rice was vehemently against derivative fanworks, and her lawsuits against fans of her book spurred many of the precautionary measures that are taken today to protect creators of fanworks.

In this new era, it seems fitting thatInterview With the Vampiregets a reboot– in the form of a series by AMC! This new adaptation will take place in modern day with a similar premise to the original; a vampire sharing his story with a human journalist. Starting in 20th century New Orleans and starring just as many handsome vampires as the original, we’re sure this reboot has something for everyone to enjoy!
Here’s the summary:
“The first season will closely follow the first novel,Interview with the Vampire.It will focus on Louis de Pointe du Lac, a vampire who tells the story of his 200-year-old life to an eager journalist named Daniel Malloy, who is looking for a second chance to turn his life around.”
With a premise like that, we’re excited to see whatInterview With the Vampirehas in store!
Will Salem’s Lot Return?
In the last few months, there has been much speculation about the status of Warner Bros.’Salem’s Lotremake. The film was set to release in April 2023, but after a reshuffle at WB, the film no longer has a release date. TheSalem’s Lotremake is in post-production, so we’re sure it will be rescheduled for release soon – and we can’t wait until it does! The summary already sounds thrilling:
“Ben Mears, a writer who spent part of his childhood in Jerusalem’s Lot, Maine, also known as ‘Salem’s Lot, has returned after twenty-five years to write a book about the long-abandoned Marsten House, where he had a bad experience as a child. He soon discovers that an ancient evil has also come to town and its turning the residents into vampires. He vows to stop the plague of undead and save the town.”
Like many ofStephen King’s works,Salem’s Lotis an unrivaled horror classic. Many of the film adaptations of King’s work have been rebooted or remade in the last few years, from 2013’sCarrieto 2019’sPet Sematary. This remake seems to be no different, with a new cast and promises fromdirector Gary Daubermanto “make Vampires frightening again.” We hope he makes good on his promise and the release date is rescheduled soon becauseSalem’s Lotsounds amazing!
With so many thrilling films and series on the horizon, we’re sure the Vampire craze is making a comeback. We just hope this resurrection will last!
